Just because you recall his name being called frequently versus the vikings in the last 5 years doesn't make him beast

AJ Hawk is not a beast, lmao. Are you confusing him with Clay Mathews?

I can't tell if you're being serious or sarcastic...are you confusing him with Clay Matthews?

I really do prefer that we take a measured approach to UFA, but if we do decide to spend some of this new cap space (I tend to believe it's for extensions of in house guys), I want it to be McCourty so bad.

He would allow us to do so much more on defense, especially in regards to Harry.

Sounds like the Vikings are interested in Rahim Moore. I think that would be decent to go with Smith in the backfield. He will probably be a good deal compared to McCourty as well.

I don't know a lot about Moore, anyone have a pulse on his playing style/ability?

I hope we sign Moore!!! Moore has been a stud when healthy however he had a very scary leg issue a little while back.....
Broncos FS Rahim Moore is completely recovered from the lateral compartment syndrome that ended his 2013 season.
Moore nearly lost his leg as a result of the rare and scary injury, but now all that remains is a large scar. He's penciled back in as the starting free safety, a role he shined in last season. Wed, May 28, 2014 08:47:00 AM
Now that we have Harry playing the "in the box" safety role, Moore would be a great fit opposite of him. He was tied for the team lead in INTs last year with Denver so he obviously recovered from his injury ok. This would be a very good signing and considered our "splash" signing if you ask me. He's a monster hitter and a ball hawk back there.

Here are some highlights for you, college and pros. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2LDDktKpaPA

At the end, Stevie Johnson gets in his face for that hit but it was a clean hit IMO. The guy got knocked out when he hit the ground. Moore hit him right in the chest.

ESPN's Josina Anderson reports the 49ers and Vikings have expressed interest in free agent Brian Hoyer.
Hoyer wants to go somewhere he'd have a chance to compete for the starting job. It wouldn't happen in either Minnesota or San Francisco, but we highly doubt there are more than 1-2 teams willing to give Hoyer a shot as a starter. He proved last season as a turnover-prone "game manager" that he's a backup.

The #Vikings have reached out to free-agent safety Taylor Mays, per a league source. Mays played for Mike Zimmer in Cincinnati.

He would provide some solid depth at the position but I would much rather pay the extra money for Rahim Moore

"It would appear that the majority of Mays' impact has come on special teams, as Pro Football Focus has him as only having played 61 snaps on defense in 2014 and less than 300 in each of the two seasons before that. Perhaps that's the role that the Vikings have in mind for him, because with as little playing time as he's seen at the safety position over the past couple of years, it wouldn't appear that he'd be an answer there"

For sure, he's a sub package player, he can play OLB in nickel and dime if needed as well, I believe Zimmer utilized him that way in the past.

Also a good special teamer
