Q Were you surprised by the reaction to what you said about Bridgewater?
A Yeah, but only because it’s exactly what I’ve been saying since February. … The way I felt about [Bridgewater] watching his college tape is that there are a lot of things he does really well and you can’t deny his production in college. … But what is also undeniable when you watch the coaches’ tape from college is that there would be times he would get into a third-and-long situation and he would miss the throw. Everyone misses throws. There’s no offense there. But when the same types of throws are missed on a consistent basis — what you put on tape, that’s your résumé. … He doesn’t possess those physical attributes right now.
Q Are there things in his toolbox that can overcome those deficiencies?
A That’s a very fair question. Not everyone is great at everything. … There are things in his game — he understands the game in that he has good anticipation and he does have good accuracy on a lot of throws that are in front of him. But part of what happens is you develop a pattern, and people are going to try to force you to do the things you don’t do well. And that’s where you end up getting exposed a little. I lived it. I’m not trying to compare myself to [Bridgewater], but I know what it’s like to not be good at some of those throws. And I’m related to a guy [brother and former NFL QB Matt Hasselbeck] who was very good at those throws.
I think the part I highlighted in bold describes what happened to Ponder and it will be interesting to see if Teddy can develop his game, improve on what he's not doing well and avoid that fate Hasselbeck is talking about above.

Thanks for the link. It's a fan perspective but that's what all of us provide here too so I read an article like that as if it were a long post on VMB and if that's what it was, it would be a good post. I enjoyed reading it, especially his description of reactions to past Vikings QBs. I don't agree with everything he wrote but his basic point of view on Bridgewater ("cautiously hopeful") is right where I land on the guy too.
Exactly, how do you discredit a fan for making what seems to be some very valid points (both pros and cons). I do not think that anywhere does he claim to be an expert.

Sorry but how is some negative fan on a website any kind of credibility? This quote doesn't really mean much to me at all nor his post on the Norseman. It's not like it's some kind of NFL analysts or scout, etc. It's simply a frustrated fan on a website.
Well I guess some fans could make the same type of comments about your credibility with your PHP Mock Drafts that you post. You are just a fan with no credibility. That being said I like to read your mock drafts and appreciate all of the effort that you put into them. I do not discount them because you are just some fan.
I posted this article because I have many of the same "takes" on TB as the author does. He makes some valid points IMO both pro and con.
I would love it if TB turns out to be the Vike's franchise QB that we have all waited for but I too have many reservations about him as do others.

I understand what you're saying that a fan out there has the same views as you. The fact that "bustwater" was part of the title already turned me off. The guy hasn't played enough games to say so so to call him a bust isn't even reasonable at this point. And after today's game, I just don't understand where anyone see's "regression"....at all

He played ok today and made a few good throws that any starting QB could/should have made. Certainly did not digress and showed signs of competency. I thought that Kalil played his best game. Loadholt was sorely missed and TB payed for those miscues from the right side.
All in all and not playing against a very good team the Vikes did just fine. Special teams pretty much was the biggest factor in deciding this game though.

Teddy played good. I don't think there is an "ok" about it. We only had 24 minutes for time of possession. He didn't really have any "bad" throws. The deep ball he threw was there it was just good defense by the corner. Very nice ball he had to Wright. I mean you say "ok" but what did you want to see?? Force deep balls down the field when they aren't there?? I mean he got the job done, made good throws, took care of the football, threw 2 TDs.....I'm not sure what you're expecting here. By saying he played "ok" usually means there were some bad aspects which I didn't really see so I'm curious

When I say ok I mean ok. Did he have any outstanding throws sqeezed through tight coverage? He hit a wide open Rudolph with a very short pass to the endzone and hit his other TD on another short pass to that Jennings did all of the work. He was bailed out on third down when he attemted a longer, poorly thrown ball to Johnson by a penalty. He once again, on third down threw a short five yard pass when they needed 10 yds. he was not under any duress but dumped the ball off way to quickly IMO. He had a nice throw to Wright, no doubt but it was nothing more than a good pass that most starting college or Pro QBs should/would make.
Hey, I am pleased by the win, happy that TB didn't screw up and played an ok to good game. Now is that, better
Look I know that you have high hopes for him and I do hope that he succeeds.

Thanks for the link. They have some positive things to say about Bridgewater's development and future.
But I do hope he ends up being better than Alex Smith, to whom one of the panelists compared him. Otherwise, all of us are going to get tangled in an endless QB argument!

the thing i've noticed about teddy is he is really on or really off. which, ultimately symbolizes a rookie. he looked in the zone this past sunday and against atlanta. it is hard to develop a deep game when you don't really have receivers with the size and speed to get deep. patterson was supposed to be that guy and after his play this year he could end up on the practice squad next season. he already has more poise and can make more throws than ponder ever could. throw peterson in for some play action and maybe draft a tall deep threat type of receiver then we'll see what he can really do.
