It does seem a bit unfair to the Vikings to not give them a YES or NO that AD will be available to play this week, next week, or this season. It's especially unfair if the Vikings knew the terms of the agreement that stated AD would come off the exempt list as soon as the legal issues were resolved.

If the NFL reinstates him on, say, Friday, that's not enough time for the team to plan for him to play this weekend, and thus, making him miss another week. Granted, he might be suspended anyway, but knowing that will help the team move forward and game plan for the future, too.

Basically, the NFL administration just kinda sucks right now.

There are pundits out there who believe the Vikings are going to cut Adrian Peterson.
That just doesn't make any sense to me. The Vikings have paid Adrian Peterson in the neighborhood of $6 million to sit on the sideline. If they were going to cut him, I think they would have done it by now.

I agree. It's interesting to contrast the views of those pundits with Sid Hartman's take, Zimmer's comments, etc.

What's odd to me is that I've seen nothing in the press about the potential leverage Peterson's case and damaged rep could give the Vikings in a contract renegotiation. We all know he's unlikely to play out his contract "as is" but am I crazy in thinking this offseason would be the perfect time for the Vikes to try re-working that deal?

I'm intrigued by what it could mean to the team if he could get back in time to practice and play against GB. That game is coming up after Chicago and the Packers have struggled against the run this year (and against Peterson in the past). AD has to have "fresh legs" at this point. If they can get him back for that game, it might be a big boost for the offense.

It utterly Flabbergasts me how inept the NFL is run. Slap on the wrist for Ray and an easy chance to pull back and just say "justice was served" and wash your hands of grey area punishment but no... Rodger jumps in with abandon.

The bad news for Adrian Peterson? He’ll miss at least one more game. The good news? He’ll be paid.

The better news? He’ll have a ruling on his status before the Vikings host the Packers on November 23.

Per a league source, the hearing on Peterson’s non-injury grievance will happen Monday, November 17. Arbitrator Shyam Das will conduct the hearing. Upon its conclusion (and it should be a short hearing), Das will have five days to issue a ruling.

What an inept group, how hard would it have been to hear this case yesterday, or even last Thursday. A pattern is starting to emerge where some teams who show support for Goodell are given preferential treatment(Ravens, Patriots, Seattle), and other teams are getting #### on.

But it was the slap on the wrist for Ray Rice that got him into hot water in the first place. Not defending him, he either needs to go or appoint someone else to handle league punishment.

So, in other words, by delaying action and forcing the NFLPA to file a grievance, the NFL won't have to make a decision until only 6 games remain for the Vikings, the same number of games for which Peterson can be suspended under the league's new domestic violence policy. Is that a coincidence or did they intentionally maneuver themselves into position to keep him off the field for the rest of the regular season?

When he does come back, can you imagine the level of fan hatred from other teams (and some Vikings fans) is going to come his way? He is no longer the golden goose for the NFL, so Goodell really has no reason to treat him with kid's gloves. And if you think opposing defenses won't try and get in his head, well... considering it's his family, these psych games may have an effect. I would be surprised if he comes back and rolls like old times.

Just a thought.
