If it's worthless to you, why engage with him at all then? Why, if you choose to engage, make it personal?Pondering Her Percy wrote: Exactly. There is no discussion with him.
His discussion = "The vikings suck, Spielman sucks, the coaches suck, we have no talent".....and there is literally no backing behind it. Its just negative statement, after negative statement with no defense behind it other than "we suck". Sweet discussion

You took that entirely the wrong way. I know I don't have to participate but I actually come on here, like many others, and discuss facts, do research and defend my posts as well as other peers posts. Point being, I rarely see that out of someone like him and IMO, that brings down the board. I would never shut down a board over something like that. I was simply saying....."I sure didnt miss him when this board was shut down"Purple Reign wrote: Not defending Demi at all, but you do know that you don't have to participate on this board if you don't want to - right? No need to shut down the board for the rest of us.

I was just having a little fun with him, take it easy. I don't think me and Demi have any bad blood.VikingLord wrote: But as far as I can tell, Demi doesn't lob anything at individuals. I'm sure some don't like the style, but in my view the one making it personal is the one trolling, which is quite honestly what I thought you did in the other thread.
This is a moderated board. Let the mods do their job. If they find Demi's comments to be against the board rules, they will take action.
To me its just semantics what term you want to use for his message board behavior, it is what it is, and its going to draw those type of reactions. I don't think you should be surprised by how people respond to it. Its the reaction it is intended to provoke.

Not sure how to take 'makes me wish this board was still shut down' the wrong way. But if it's Demi's posts that you don't want to see, why not just 'foe' him?Pondering Her Percy wrote: You took that entirely the wrong way. You said it never happens. I only had to point out one instance where it did to negate that statement. I'm sure it's happened more, although I can't pull any examples right now.Pondering Her Percy wrote: So since its happened once in how many years of the NFL, that's negating my statement?? The percentage of a 3rd string QB actually developing into an NFL caliber starter is literally less than 5% so where are you going with this???
Regardless, even if the chance is less than 5%, that's better than the 0% one gets with Ponder at this point.
As far as where I'm going with it, I just agree with Demi on this point. Spielman could have cut his losses with Ponder and at least given himself that 5% chance (if that is what it is) of finding that developmental 3rd string QB. At this point in Ponder's career, that would have been a better move for the Vikings IMHO.

You're turning it personal again - "Its the reaction it is intended to provoke"fiestavike wrote: To me its just semantics what term you want to use for his message board behavior, it is what it is, and its going to draw those type of reactions. When I read Demi's stuff, I sense a lot of frustration, but it's directed at the Vikings and what he sees them doing/not doing. I don't see it directed at anyone on the board. I don't think you can (safely) read intent into it. The fact that some do probably says more about how they see things than how he does.
Regardless, he doesn't deserve personal attacks, and if I were to see someone lobbing something at you, Pondering, or frosted, I'd say the same to them.

Re: Vikings @ Packers Game Day Discussion Thread -- Week 5
what exactly are you people discussing? demi's personal responses? i thought this was supposed to be about the game why not stick to that instead, rather than try to defend someone's opinion on a blog post? that is what is wrong with the world today--social media. everyone thinks that their opinion actually matters and in reality it doesn't mean jack s*it. why not, as vikings fans, just discuss our thoughts on the game???? leave it at that.

Re: Vikings @ Packers Game Day Discussion Thread -- Week 5
Just woke up, it's 7am here. After 2 hours sleep, I'm now past the throwing the remote stage. Looking at the game more constructively these are my thoughts:
Patterson- I mentioned this last night, is he carrying an injury? Are team blanketing him that much that he's seeing no playing time whatsoever?! With CDC under center, it seemed like a perfect time to get him involved running the ball for the backfield/sweep. Or throwing him the ball more, even from screens?! Seems obvious, but we threw loads of screens elsewhere, which were pounced on. I know if I was McCarthy, Id tell the defence "he's got a noodle arm, bring the pressure, watch where he stares down when he's hurried and pounce accordingly. Corners don't worry if he tries to air it long, he'll float it so high you can cover it man to man"
I didn't even see patterson second half. I wonder if he told it how it was in the locker room and Zimmer didn't take to it too well.
Defence- now I know they were put in a tough spot this week, but it seemed they took a massive step back. The d-line looked pedestrian at best. It was interesting to have Robison on the mic, even his pre match pep talk sounded like he couldn't be bothered. Now he's got his money, has he lost his hunger I wonder? Secondary I though we're pretty tidy considering the position they were put in. However, the missed tackles especially on Lacy, was just embarrassing.
Can ponder really effect a whole teams morale? Because they just didn't look like they wanted it.
Finally a word on Ponder. Hopefully even Spielman finally sees what a useless player he is and cuts him immediately. Even the Mr irrelevant that we picked up must be able to manage the ball better than CDC. Not stare down his receiver. When under pressure, doesn't go predictively to his safety valve every play. Can throw it relatively accurately.
I'm still hopeful. This Defence has shown this season it has improved. And we have a true signal caller waiting to shine. I actually like how the running is right now, and think it will complement Teddys style of play. I've not given up on this year, if these things come together, we're in with a real shot with all but one of our division matches still to play.
However, I'm genuinely excited about next year.
Right I'm off to play golf! Peace!

Re: Vikings @ Packers Game Day Discussion Thread -- Week 5
The unfortunate thing right now is without Peterson the offense is completely reliant on QB play and without Teddy the QB play has been atrocious. The defense has given up some points, but time and time again they figure it out mid game and buckle down. Of course after Ponder's back to back INT's the team pretty much deflated and like Tom Brady you're not going to hold Rodgers down forever when your QB is turning over the football and completely ineffective.
People want to talk about the O-line but again, with Teddy the O-line looked great. Part of that is his elusiveness and part of it is how he can beat the blitz. The tape is out on Ponder, you just blitz and pressure him and he melts like butter. If you can't beat the blitz they're just going to keep doing it and the O-line is going to look bad.
People want to talk about Asiata and to a lesser extent Mckinnon being bums, well again without competent QB play and without Adrian Peterson the run will get snuffed out. Why did we have so many rushing yards with Teddy at QB? People will argue it's atlanta's defense but it's simply more about competent QB play. Blitzing can be great against both the pass and the run so getting the other team to stop blitzing like Teddy can do it and completing passes further than 5 yards down field pulls that extra safety out of the box.
This offense outside of 2009 is about adrian peterson. He's not here so it's going to blow without a major upgrade at QB. Teddy, at least for one game, is that upgrade. Without him the teams not really going to be worth watching and we'll probably lose double digit games. With him I think we have a chance at 8-8 still but like so often in the today's NFL, the QB is most important. We were able to buck that trend a bit with a supreme talent in AD but now it's caught up to us. I guess what I'm trying to say is, we better get use to a team that looks crappy if anyone but Teddy has to start.
