Peterson not in Vikings future
Sounds like the Vikings may not be planning on having Peterson be part of their future going forward. Peterson is trying to expedite trial, but team may still not take him back supposedly.

This is why I am hoping we can get something for him, this year.

Unnamed "sources" again.
Even if this is true there isn't much more than what we already knew. Most are assuming Peterson is done, but no one knows for sure. I would love to hve him back once he does his time.

Chris Mortensen made that report and it's spreading rapidly. If I remember correctly, he reported that his info came from "league sources" and "team sources"/ Who knows how accurate it is? At this point, I'm guessing the whole situation is pretty fluid. However, the media is going to report every rumor and every bit of speculation until it's all over. It may be a long ride.
Re: Peterson not in Vikings future
Yeah the article references AD's current deactivation as the reason why he isn't in the team's future but one could also easily view his reactivation on Monday as proof that he is in the future plans still.
Re: Peterson not in Vikings future
Okay, so this is ESPN, which means we have to take this report as being just rumor for now. OTOH, the following is something I could imagine happening:
Goodell and the NFL have been getting bad press lately. I believe they might try to look tough on Peterson's case, maybe even use him as an example.Mortenson also indicated that any punishment from the NFL will be severe, particularly because Roger Goodell specifically used the phrase “child abuse” in his catch-all press conference on Friday.

I'd say that's a strong possibility, Craig.

I don't think that I read or have heard antything that says Peterson isn't in the Vikings future other than Mortenson speculating. I get so sick of ESPN.

Re: Peterson not in Vikings future
AD might not have been in the plans next year regardless of the abuse allegations. He was set to make $13 million at a position where the NFL average is $1.5 million and at an age where most players at that position tail off dramatically. The abuse stuff has just hastened that departure, IMHO. The news isn't that AD is no longer in the Vikings' future - the news is that he's no longer in their *present*. That is what is going to impact the team the most, not what happens in the offseason.
Re: Peterson not in Vikings future
Restructure is always an option. I think that was going to be an inevitable discussion between AD's reps and Vikings brass regardless. He hasn't helped his negotiation position by missing games and now this. Depending on the legal outcome, though, I still think there's still a better than 50:50 chance he's in Purple next season. He remains a game-changer and I think Spielman/the Wilfs know this and still are behind him (partly because of the whole stadium deal).VikingLord wrote:AD might not have been in the plans next year regardless of the abuse allegations. AP is just a CLueless MORON....He tweeted Sunday how he is asking to take a Polygraph! So he can once again admit to "Whupping" his little boy....and really didnt mean to tear the kid up. He just doesnt get it. What a fiasco. He must drive his Lawyer crazy with his inability to simply shut the Hell up!

Emotions aside, this would be a good outcome. I don't think hes going to have much of a legal problem (like serving time) but the NFL may come down on him pretty hard. If theres no trading him, a restructure of his contract would be very nice.dead_poet wrote: Restructure is always an option. Yes, it is sad he is still trying to justify his actions.chicagopurple wrote:AP is just a CLueless MORON....He tweeted Sunday how he is asking to take a Polygraph!
