I guess I have a hard time naming BACKUPS, sorry. But Hasslebeck, Warner, Matt Flynn, and Matt Cassel were all 3rd stringers at one point in their career.
Are you really saying 3rd stringers dont ever become decent backups?
You just touted the importance of a backup QB and then bristled when I asked you to name a few.
My point is this: we already have a good backup QB. At this point, it is highly unlikely we would get another QB worth having. Ponder has already been paid and IF he has to see the field, has proven that he can piggyback this team to the playoffs. There isn't much to gain by shaking things up, and at least this way the coaches can focus on Teddy instead of worrying about whoever the third stringer is.

No I didn't, I named 4 right off the top of my head.
Ponder sucks, and I'd rather have a developmental QB with at least a chance of being good, if our top two QBs go down were screwed anyways, this is why so many teams dont carry a 3rd QB on the active roster, id way rather have a developmental guy with a shot to be decent, then good ol terrible Ponder.

Cutting Ponder would open up another roster spot (assuming they go with only 2 QBs). If Thielen was on the bubble, would you rather have him or Ponder?
I'd rather have Thielen...IF... it came down to him or Ponder. I find that specific scenario somewhat unlikely though.
I've told people a million times not to exaggerate!

I didn't say you couldn't come up with any, I said you didn't like me questioning it.
I contend that Ponder has shown in the past that he can make this team limp along. I don't want him as a starter, but I would rather have something proven that requires almost no attention than an unknown.

Thielen, of course...but he's most likely our number 5 receiver anyways, so that's not a great scenario. It would be more likely to be a backup S, LB, or OL.
Mckinnon could be our 3rd string QB, and do a better job then Ponder, if it came down to it. My point is we should at least try to have a 3rd string that could show promise some day. EVERYTHING Ponder does is a waste to this team. And since when do the Vikings care about money? Cut Ponder, and tell him not to let the door hit him as he leaves. Or better yet, call me up when hes leaving and let me tell him.

Might be a good idea to have Mickinnon play QB he could not have looked any worse than Bridgewater did.
From Yahoo Sports:
"Bridgewater relieved Cassel at quarterback after one series, and the rookie's first name was rhythmically chanted during his first two snaps by a crowd eager to see the first-round draft pick in action. Playing into the third quarter, Bridgewater's debut was mixed at best: 6 for 13 for 49 yards, two sacks and one fumble the Vikings recovered."

Do not mistake KINDNESS for WEAKNESS!
Best to keep your mouth shut and be thought a fool rather than open it and remove all doubt.

I think a good candidate might be Mauti. He's definitely a bubble guy and didn't seem to get in the game until rather late.

That's makes ya happy? If hes worse then the turd, you'd probably be estatic.

Have you read the title of the thread? Its a very good question. Only a few folks on this board even argue it. Most of my friends think Norv and Zimmer should have just gotten rid of the turd, and find someone that may actually be useful in the NFL to take his place.
