Here we go...

Tweets from Chris Tomasson of the Pioneer Press, in the sequence they were tweeted:
Chris Tomasson @christomasson · 16m
Chris Kluwe just told me that he will definitely file suit after the Vikings informed his lawyer today they won't make the report public.

Chris Kluwe told me that the Vikings declined to accept the settlement terms they provided.

Chris Kluwe told me his side asked for a suspension of Mike Priefer for from 4 to 8 games. Vikings declined.

Chris Kluwe told me they asked for the Vikings to donate $1 million to gay and lesbian groups and that was declined.

Chris Kluwe said Vikings were also asked to for sensitivity training for Mike Priefer

Chris Kluwe on the lawsuit being filed. "Probably as soon as possible. ...I assume at the start of the business day Monday we'll be in court

@christomasson · 10m
And Kluwe said the Vikings are still saying that they refuse to make the report public.

From the Strib's Master Tesfatsion:
Just got a hold of @ChrisWarcraft, said negotiations came to a stall. Expects suit to filed Monday. #Vikings

Along w/releasing report/donating $1M to LGBT charities,Kluwe wanted Priefer suspended 4-8 gms under personal conduct policy

... and from Kluwe himself:
Chris Kluwe @ChrisWarcraft · 36m
Never let it be said that I didn't try. Apparently the Vikings want to do this the hard way.

Chris Kluwe @ChrisWarcraft · 34m
And yes, #### is about to get real. Unfortunate that it has to come to this.

I'm guessing if the Vikings had agreed to any of those terms it would have increased their liability. No statement from the team yet...

Well, Kluwe's not trying to make them good and almost all we're hearing about this is coming from him and Halunen. All we really know is settlement talks have stalled and the Vikings weren't willing to meet Kluwe's demands.

The Strib has a brief blog post about this:

http://www.startribune.com/sports/vikin ... 20501.html
Kluwe expressed his frustration on Twitter on Friday afternoon, claiming that “next week is open season.” He’s disappointed that the Vikings wanted to be transparent with the investigation but have waited seven months without even releasing the report.

“And all of a sudden, they decided they don’t want to do that anymore,” Kluwe said. “Frankly, I find that unacceptable.”

We have reached out to the Vikings for comment and will update when we hear back.
There's more at the link.

He said "open season" in regards to media getting in touch with him. That was taken out of context like whoa

Good Ole Vikings. New coaching staff, same old garbage. Should never have kept Priefer. :wallbang:

What liability? If they'd have agreed to the terms they'd be nothing to worry about liability in. There'd be no lawsuit.
Well, Kluwe's not trying to make them good and almost all we're hearing about this is coming from him and Halunen.
Because they refuse to release the results of the investigation they themselves had take place. If it didn't make them look bad (or worse it sounds like) they would have released it. Instead they try to resolve it, it looks just as bad (if not worse) than Kluwe contended, and then they refuse to make any of it public...unless they are forced to in a lawsuit? Yeah, KLUWE is the one "trying" to make them look not good....

The Vikings planned to release a summary of the report on Friday evening. Kluwe's attorney, Clayton Halunen, said Priefer would be suspended for his conduct, but that the suspension likely would not meet Kluwe's request of a four-to-eight game ban. Halunen and Kluwe had asked for the Vikings to donate $1 million to charities that support LGBT-friendly causes. According to the punter, however, the Vikings offered to donate $100,000, and declined to release the full report, informing Kluwe's attorney on Friday afternoon they would not accept Kluwe's settlement terms.
Halunen said the punter could expect to receive up to $10 million in damages for religious and human rights discrimination, defamation, tortious interference with contractual relations and emotional stress damages, since, he said, Kluwe's punting career was likely over. "The scope of things now has changed," Halunen said.

The attorney said he planned to file the lawsuit in Minnesota state court, and would ask for a full copy of the report as part of the discovery process. "They will fight over it," Halunen said. "I know it. If they are required to give it to me, they'll try to do it under a protective order, but I'm going to fight to keep it public."
Meanwhile, Priefer seems to be going about his business:

----------------

I expect to see a LOT of spin, theorizing and assuming about the contents of the report over the coming days and weeks.

Other than the statement the Vikings released the other day, Kluwe and Halonen continue to be almost the only sources for information on the case:

http://www.twincities.com/sports/ci_261 ... settlement
Halunen said he was told in a meeting on Thursday he would get an answer by Friday on the settlement terms proposed. When he did not hear anything from the Vikings by the end of the business day Friday, he considered Kluwe's terms "rejected."

Chris Madel, one of two attorneys heading an investigation into Kluwe's allegations, declined comment. Vikings lawyer Kevin Warren did not immediately return a call. The Vikings said previously that Kluwe was released in May 2013 for football-only reasons.
After the Deadspin article was posted on the internet, the Vikings launched what they called an independent investigation. The expectation was that following a six-month investigation, the report would be released.
Who created that expectation? Did the Vikings ever make a public statement saying they would release the full results of their independent investigation? I don't recall reading that.

An anticipated late Friday afternoon bad news dump became an early Friday evening bad news dump.

Per multiple reports, the Vikings have suspended special-teams coordinator Mike Priefer three games as a result of the investigation sparked by claims of homophobic remarks from former punter Chris Kluwe. The suspension can be reduced to two games, if Priefer completes sensitivity training.

The disclosure comes at a time when Kluwe and his lawyer have made clear their intent to file a lawsuit against the Vikings. Kluwe wanted the team to suspend Priefer for four to eight games. Kluwe also wanted the Vikings to donate $1 million to gay and lesbian support groups.

Preifer was retained by new coach Mike Zimmer even after the allegations came to light. It’s unknown whether the suspension will affect Priefer’s job status after the 2014 season.
Coach gets suspended 3 games, but nothing to see here, just Kluwe flinging mud.

Kluwe basically just admitted on Twitter that he did make light of sandusky stuff. Chris Kluwe is a lawyers nightmare. Kluwe is mad about homophobic comments but makes light of child rape? Dude has a screw loose.

Yeah, he's a making a fool of himself. It must drive his lawyer nuts.

Halunen said he will push for the full 150-page summary of the investigation to be made public during the discovery process of a lawsuit. He admitted that portions of the report -- like Kluwe's jokes about the Jerry Sandusky scandal and an incident where he dropped his pants in front of 20-25 businesspeople who were touring the locker room -- "are not flattering to my client." Despite that, he said, he wants the full report to be available to the public.
Remind me again: who needs sensitivity training?

1. Priefer said it but out of frustration/motivation

2. Vikings didn't like that Kluwe caused a distraction, it didn't matter what he was doing to cause it.

3. Kluwe wasn't not cut because of his gay rights activism.
It sure looks that way and I won't be surprised if it still looks that way after Kluwe sues and this thing runs it's course.

And Priefer is suspended three games because of "nothing"?
Now it's "frustration", not long ago I swear it was Kluwe blowing things out of proportion.
So there's nothing to see here...but someone gets suspended for this "nothing"?
Should have just fired Priefer and let this all go away...but nope, we're the Vikings. Let's redo the coaching staff and keep the guy involved in the lawsuit/investigation, who...funny, gets suspended.
