The average male hand length may be 7.44, but IIRC NFL Hand Size is a different measurement.

Small hands for a QB can be a death knell.

Culpepper was knocked for small hands and he was also plagued with fumbilitis for a few years. I mean, he had real fumble problems. So, by comparison, Daunte had a hand size of 9 1/2, whereas Teddy's is 9 1/4. I think there's some cause for concern there, but Bridgewater is a different quarterback than Daunte.

He's astute at reading defense, anticipation and accuracy. If he's getting the ball out of his hands quickly, then that lessens the risk potential for fumbling. He's also not going to be running the ball and scrambling around like Culpepper did.

I came in here to post that I voted for 'thrilled,' but I wanted to address that when I saw it being discussed.

I think that's why he also wears the gloves. It gives him a stronger grip on the ball. Which probably lessens the probability of him fumbling.

yes and I was going to start a thread to that effect. It just shows how stupid tanking for anyone is. We could have won the super bowl and still picked teddy.

Quarterbacks with small hands fumble. It's why something as silly sounding as hand size is such a big deal for quarterbacks.

It's not an assumption with Culpepper either. A lot of his fumbles were flat out ridiculous and straight from grip issues.

There was someone on the Dan Patrick show a week or two ago talking about this, he mentioned how smaller hands also make it more difficult to really get spin on the ball and get a nice spiral, especially outdoors with wind. Not just fumbling. But I can't remember who it was now. Or how big his hands were.

Well that time would come in our 3rd game of the season 2011 against our in-state rival Kentucky wildcats at the time we had not beat them in 4 years, that was al about to change the second that our true freshman stepped on the field
I knew we had something special Louisville coach Charlie Strong had said earlier in the week that his team lacked the confidence needed to be a good team His team got its shot of confidence from a true freshman nobody seen ta coming and for the record Teddy would never lose to them either. here is a link for anyone that wants to see Teddy's first time coming into a college game ,things would never be the same http://youtu.be/GTMSSKoYDMg , when you watch this keep in mind true freshman road game sell out RIVAL .
I can also tell you cold weather wont bother him he didn't have to worry about it often but he had his fair share of cold games here and on the road at UConn and Rutgers he did not play with gloves on until here it was a cold rainy day and he put them on I'm not sure if it was a game or practice , don't know what kind of quarterback he'll be. I don't know how he'll fit into Norv Turner's Minnesota system. I do know he's different. He's not out in the clubs. He's not out drinking with the guys. He is purposeful and at his best when cornered he is the first one in and the last to leave he is a film room junkie (Peyton Manning) I think he will learn the playbook fast, correct me if I am wrong ,but
isn't Ponder and Cassel also first time in Norv Turner's system if so I think Teddy will pick it up faster.
We also have Louisville Cardinal connections there Bridgewater should have a strong support system in Minneapolis. Richard Pitino, a former U of L assistant, is there. So is former Cardinals basketball player Gorgui Dieng and U of L women's standout Asia Taylor, anyways I just wanted to say you guys have a good player and a great guy, and some new fans ,GO CARDS , GO VIKINGS

Great first post and Welcome! Loved that video even though it wasn't only about Teddy, I can tell that was a big time win for him and his team by how happy the guys looked and his coaches. Had chills when Eminem and Teddy came on haha.

Welcome aboard. It's basically everyone's first time under Turner since it's a whole new coaching staff. I could be wrong but I don't recall any free agents playing under Turner.
