Very glad they didn't waste their time with Manziel, who'll probably need a reality check or two before he reaches his potential. I think he's more like Favre than people are realizing. Maybe Green Bay will go trade for him in a couple of years if Rodgers starts to stink it up.

Re: vikes wanted manziel
I seriously doubt there's any legitimacy that they wanted Manziel. I think people assumed that because they were trying to trade up to #22 and were beat out by the Browns who happened to take JFB. They ended up actually getting the guy they obviously wanted at what was probably a much more reasonable rate by waiting it out until #32.

Re: vikes wanted manziel
What's funny is that they could have probably let us move up to #22 to take Bridgewater and still got Manziel at #26. In a way, we flossed them on that, and IMO we came away with the better QB. Manziel will be good if he can get his head on straight and learn how to be more of a pocket passer, but I think Bridgewater is already there. Much more disciplined, and when you're talking about the best statistical QBs from this class Bridgewater and Manziel are 1a and 1b. I give the edge to Bridgewater because he's more traditional.Purplemania wrote:The Browns are our personal slapping doll.
First we own them with the Trent Richardson trade.
Then we steal a 5th round from them this year

WHO WANTED BRIDGEWATER AT THIS SPOT??????????????????????????
NOBODY. NOBODY WANTED HIM, AND WE HAD ANOTHER PICK AT 40. NOBODY WANTED BRIDGEWATER FOR A REASON.

one thing is for sure, bridgewater wouldn't have been picked within the first 3 rounds and yet we moved up to get him.

Re: vikes wanted manziel
tell me purplemania, who else was going to draft teddy within the 3rd round. please enlighten me because no one wanted him, in fact carr is rated higher and is still out there and we wouldn't have had to give up a draft pick to get him. pathetic.

Re: vikes wanted manziel
While we're instituting a "3 warn rule" I'm going to give you a 1/2 day ban to sleep off whatever the heck you've been drinking tonight. Hopefully you come back tomorrow a little more sober or I'll make it longer.mosscarter wrote:its general knowledge at this point you moron. you want a source. we took the third worse qb and we traded up to do it.

You're welcome.mosscarter wrote:Who would have taken Bridgewater by #40. Let me know [if you find out(?), but as far as I can tell] the answer is no one.
I'm sure there's at least one or two teams that would've taken the best QB prospect by pick 40. As for me, I'm just glad we weren't one of those teams that didn't think too much about his "horrible" pro day that was actually pretty decent.
Re: vikes wanted manziel
They may have also wanted Bortles ahead of either of them.

So I take it that it that you're not very high on Teddy, Moss ...
I'm very pleased the Vikings avoided Manziel. And if someone told me in December that they would get a pass rushing LB and Bridgewater in the first round, I would have been ecstatic. I loved watching Manziel in college, but I don't think he will survive in the NFL. Of course, I could be completely wrong. If left up to me, I wouldn't gamble a first-rounder on Manziel.
The beefs on Bridgewater is his size (6-2, 214 ... Carr is 6-2, 215) and his deep ball. The scouts say he is very good at multi-reads, throwing under pressure and keeping his eyes down field. You can strengthen his arm (worked for Brady and Brees), but his strengths are harder to come by. With the bonus of having Norv Truner as his OC, I think Bridgewater has a great chance to find success.

I don't think they wanted Manziel. I think they were afraid Cleveland was going to take Bridgewater. Manziel is just not a Norv Turner guy.

The only things we know is that the Vikings were in talks with Phi for number 22, the BROWNS swooped in because they got twitchy thinking the vikings were going to take Manziel. I think Bridgewater has been the target all along. I posted in a thread the other day about how Bridgewaters Game Tape spoke volumes about him. The vikings didn't talk about Bridgewater really before the draft, but behind the scenes they were talking to him, doing physicals.......I think they were trading up for Teddy, the browns freaked thinking the smoke screen yesterday about the vikings ownership talking about drafting Johnny.

Heard on Mike and Mike this morning. The Browns spent $100,000 on a study of traits of a college QB that translated in being a successful QB in the NFL. The study determined that Bridgewater would be the best of all the QBs coming out of this draft. The Browns took Manziel wasting their $100,000
