He's not the first.

What a free-fall! This guy has gone from the clear-cut top QB to a projected second rounder!!King James wrote:Mike Mayock has Bridgewater projected as a second round pick now.
It's purely a question of who's ranking him. Some analysts are still projecting him as the top player or pick in the draft.majorm wrote: What a free-fall! This guy has gone from the clear-cut top QB to a projected second rounder!!
It just illustrates how subjective most of this pre-draft evaluation is and how little most of these guys actually know about what teams will do and where a player should be ranked. This can't all be because he's looked shaky in some workouts. He must not be interviewing very well either.
Just remember, Bridgewater hasn't dropped yet. He could go in the second round, as Mayock is predicting, or in the top 10. As we keep saying, it's going to be interesting, especially because no matter where players like Manziel and Bridgewater are selected, someone is going to be WAY off target in their prediction.Reminds me a little of Matt Barkley. Hard to remember now but he was extremely highly thought of as an NFL prospect heading into his final college season and then dropped like an anvil in a swimming pool.
Curtis Conway, who played under then-OC Turner in San Diego in the early ’00s, believes that of all the QBs available in this year’s draft, Teddy Bridgewater would be the best fit.
Conway gave his interesting take on a potential Bridgewater-Turner marriage during a mock draft segment on NFL Network.
“Teddy Bridgewater may not be the best quarterback in everyone’s eyes, but when I look at the offensive [coordinator] in Minnesota, I played for Norv Turner and he likes the type of quarterback who can go through his progressions,” Conway said.
“Teddy Bridgewater is [more] mobile than people think. He doesn’t run as much as the other guys because he goes through his progressions and he will dump the ball off to his back,” Conway went on. “I think Bridgewater fits Norv Turner’s offense better than any of the other quarterbacks.”
I think his pro day had a major factor into his decision here's a quote regarding it from NFL.Commajorm wrote: What a free-fall! This guy has gone from the clear-cut top QB to a projected second rounder!!

If I was a scout, I don't know if a pro day alone would change my mind about a player. He has good gametape though, so I don't know why he would fall so low in ONE DAY.Mayock states:
"I would say in general, tape is worth about 85 percent of an overall grade, and the rest of the process is set up for red flags, and to go back and watch more tape to try to confirm what you saw or didn't see," Mayock said. "I saw about four of his tapes prior to the combine, and I really liked him. I thought he had a chance to be a franchise quarterback from what I saw on the tape. ... Except you've got to see the quarterbacks throw the ball live. I've never seen a top-level quarterback in the last 10 years have a bad pro day, until Teddy Bridgewater. He had no accuracy, the ball came out funny, the arm strength wasn't there, and it made me question everything I saw on tape because this was live.
"I went back and watched a bunch more tape and compared him to the rest of the guys in the draft," he said. "And like it or not, I've come to a conclusion -- if I was a GM in the NFL, I would not take him in the first round of the draft."
I forget. Who is Mayock drafting for?King James wrote:Mike Mayock has Bridgewater projected as a second round pick now.
Didn't Dallas just give Romo a bazillion dollar contract? I can't imagine that they would be looking to trade so many extra picks to spend on a new QB with all of their other needs.VikingLord wrote:Ideal scenario for the Vikings would be both Manziel and Bridgewater still on the board at #8. Cowboys supposedly want Manziel bad, so Spielman swings a trade with them to move back to #16, picking up their 2nd and 3rd in the process (and maybe more if they are really desperate). Then, at 16, he gets Bridgewater. He would also have plenty of ammo to pop back into the late 1st if he wanted.
I have a gut feeling here - Carr and Bortles will come off the board before Manziel and Bridgewater. Carr goes to the Raiders at #5, Bortles to Tampa at #7. This is the product of too much pre-draft second-guessing and too much emphasis on how guys look in shorts and t-shirts.
I saw this earlier today and I must say that I wouldn't mind this at all. First off we get Dennard to help out in the secondary and then we get Carr who fits Norv's Offense spot on. Plus we wouldn't be giving up that much considering we traded back one spot and would get extra picks to then use in the trade up to 31.80 PurplePride 84 wrote:ESPN did a live mock today with the bloggers doing what they "think" the teams would do.
Goessling traded back one spot picked up an extra 5th and 6th and took Dennard.
He then attempted to trade to 29 to get Bridgewater but Jacksonville beat him out so he traded a 4th and like 6th and 7th to move from 40 to 31 to take Carr.
They did and one of the reasons that Dallas wants to get Manziel is so that they can get out of that Bazillion dollar contract with Romo.Purple bruise wrote: Didn't Dallas just give Romo a bazillion dollar contract? PurpleKoolaid wrote:Mayock not being a Teddy supporter is the only thing that frightens me. It might give Norv hesitation. And I would rather have JFB (I just hope it doesn't become a circus) then Bortles. Mayock is really high on both. We just cant wait for a QB anymore. Its been too long, and the cant let the Ponder pick scare them. Its going to be a long 2 years regardless.
Don't be obnoxious. Mayock usually has a good eye for evaluating draft prospects. He gets to see these guys game film and often in person so I think he probably knows more than us about Bridgewater than we fans do.mmvikes wrote: I forget. Who is Mayock drafting for?
It's mostly stuff I'm reading on the rumors boards. Apparently, Jones is having second thoughts about that deal and/or has become infatuated with Manziel. Either way, if the rumor is true it's worth going fishing if Manziel is still there at #8.Purple bruise wrote: Didn't Dallas just give Romo a bazillion dollar contract?
