Re: Your top 5 favorite and least favorite Vikings
Favorites:
1. Moss as a Rookie--no one will ever bring that much excitement to the organization in his rookie year; he was dominant and brash and funny. Loved his games vs. the Cowboys on Thanksgiving and in Green Bay.
2. AD--The guy's just a beast. It's a privilege to watch him.
3. Chris Carter--Loved his hands and his excitement.
4. Keith Millard--I was young when he was dominant, but I remember loving his power and speed.
5. Jerry Burns--(Thread topic does not specify players) His post game pressers were pure entertainment. I listen to them now and feel transported to my mid to late 80s life in MN. A sentimental pick, to be sure.
Least Favorites:
1. Moss 2.0 --What a let down and what a jerk.
2. Bryant McKinney--I dislike naturally talented people who don't put forth the effort to take advantage of their skills. He's the embodiment of that (in all his obesity).
3. Tie: Ponder & T-Jack--they were just so frustrating to watch.
4. Troy Williamson. I'll never forget the bomb that hit him in the head.
5. Gary Anderson--Solid kicker, but he left psychological scars. I can still hear the announcer saying as Anderson lined up for THE KICK "He's perfect on the year…" and we just groaned.

Reading through this thread, it's clear that in the eyes of many fans, there are few bigger sins than being a high draft pick or highly-paid free agent that doesn't live up to the expectations associated with joining the team in that manner. That's not news but this thread definitely reinforces it.
Re: Your top 5 favorite and least favorite Vikings
I’ve only been watching since about 1996 so the list is easier for me than others.
Favorites:
Adrian Peterson
Randy Moss
(if only those two would have been able to play together … )
Pat Williams
John Randle
Jimmy Kleinsasser
Least Favorites:
Fred Smoot
McKinnie
Cook
Berrian
Favre
The skill of the player, as far as being a favorite, really has little to do with it for me. Peterson and Moss are the exception simply because they’re linked to so many good Vikings memories (Peterson would have made it for both reasons … Moss is on the edge).
Though Ponder and TJ have had some horrible showings they had decent personalities and seemed to really try to improve … even if thus far they’ve failed. Ponder especially put in the time needed to become a good player. It’s hard for me to not like a person who genuinely seemed to try. So you couldn’t hack it at this level … you gave it your best shot, I can respect that.
While it’s easy for me to not like someone like McKinnie who obviously had the tools needed to be the best in the league but didn’t really try. Some might argue that Moss falls into this category, I disagree. Moss might have given up on plays, but he was always in great shape and obviously put in the time needed to be great during the offseason.
Personality is why a player like Kleinsasser makes my favorites list but Matt Birk doesn’t.

Re: Your top 5 favorite and least favorite Vikings
purple pride favre was the best starting qb we've had in what 15, years? actually he's better than gannon or kramer too, so would it be even more? 20 or 25? that's what, roughly a quarter century? and blaming that last interception on favre as the reason to why we actually lost the game is a JOKE. and 2010 wasn't his fault at all the team was a mess from top to bottom. bringing in moss for 3 games and then cutting him was indicative of that.

Re: Your top 5 favorite and least favorite Vikings
Top Five Favorites:
1). Randy Moss - Arugubly the best player in Vikings' franchise history.
2). Kevin Williams - His presence at three technique will be sorely missed.
3). Adrian Peterson - What's there to say? The guy is a legend.
4). Daunte Culpepper - Getcha ya roll on!!!
5). Everson Griffen/Tarvaris Jackson - Couldn't care less what anyone else thinks. These two will always be two of my favorites.
Top Five Least Favorites:
1). Anthony Herrera - Medicore talent who was allowed to start much longer than he should have.
2). Ryan Cook - Just a terrible player.
3). Fred Smoot - I will admit, I laughed pretty hard his failed Lambeau Leap. That was classic.
4). Tyrell Johnson - Just terrible.
5). Spregon Wynn - Never. Ever. Again.

Re: Your top 5 favorite and least favorite Vikings
I think that's accurate. In my case, it's nothing personal. I think Ponder is a good enough guy, but he's been frustrating as a player definitely due to where he was taken in the draft.Mothman wrote:Reading through this thread, it's clear that in the eyes of many fans, there are few bigger sins than being a high draft pick or highly-paid free agent that doesn't live up to the expectations associated with joining the team in that manner. Favorite:
Randy Moss
AD
David Dixon- one of the most underrated players in the history of the NFL
Anthony Carter
And of course... Randall Cunningham
Least Favorite:
Ray Sherman- Ruined the powerful Viking offense in 1999
Darrin Nelson- Most maddening player I have ever watched... played AWESOME one week, then sucked the next.
Nuufahu Tahi (although, I must admit, I like his name)
Brad Childress
That idiot coach that followed Dennis Green around all the time. The one who they put everywhere and everytime they moved him, whoever he was coaching would complain about him. I can't remember his name... maybe Richard Solomon?
