I don't think either quality makes someone a better fan.

However, you're not being realistic. You're being pessimistic, predicting and expecting the worst possible outcome. A realist acknowledges the possibility of a negative outcome while also acknowledging other possibilities. He doesn't expect or predict a negative outcome in situations where that's not even close to a sure thing.

Some blindly think management knows what its doing. Others, the coaching staff. I believe you were wrong on both accounts. If fact I remember asking you specifically what makes a good HC. And why should Fraizer get COTY last year. And if im not mistaken, not one of your arguments paned out.

First, I don't "blindly" follow anybody. Second, the Coach of the Year award isn't based on what a coach does the following year. There was nothing to "pan out". The award is presented to the NFL head coach who the Associated Press believe has done the most outstanding job in a particular season of working with the talent he has at his disposal. What happens the next year is irrelevant. the award is based on purely on the season in which it is awarded.

And both the QB and HC are gone. I am a pessimist/realist, I admit that. I am also right more times then wrong.

A "pessimist/realist" is essentially a pessimist and as TexasVike said, the inherent difficulty of success in the NFL makes it easy to be right most of the time when you're also naysaying most of the time. The odds are simply in your favor.

But if you guys in your little group get off on thinking your superior to the 'negative' crowd, pat yourselves on the back, and more power to you. Because neither of us will get anything we want till we find that QB. And a real competent GM

Ponder as a backup is not so bad though.

Having a proven bottom 5 Qb as a backup isn't bad though. Yeah, ok. Pryor has 10 starts and brings more as a backup than Ponder. From his skillset, to his potential. But whatever. Ponder apologists still at it. Your boy failed, despite being given the better part of three years and 35 starts, but he just needs more time. Give me a break.

Unless you mean Ponder is bottom 5 out of ~96 rostered QBs in which case you're wrong, because you could certainly do worse at backup and 3rd string than Christian Ponder.

I'll take a half dozen available QBs this offseason as a backup over Ponder. And the same can be said for the free agents every offseason...

Ponder wasn't even the best QB on the roster last year.

How can you guys say that you KNEW Ponder was a failure 2-3 years ago when he was still trying to prove himself, and say Pryor isn't a failure NOW? Have you seen Pryor play? He sucks balls like Ponder.

Ponder had 4 years in college, and 30+ NFL starts. Pryor had 3 years in college and 10 NFL starts. He was on the raiders. No tight ends, no offensive line, and no backs. He had nothing around him. New coaches/incompetent coaches all around. Ponder was given every chance to prove himself, and failed. Above average offensive line, 1st round WR, big money veteran free agent WR, solid TE, and still a scrub. I'm willing to say Ponder is a 100% failure. Move on. Pryor? Close, but he didn't have anywhere near the change Ponder was given...

I knew Ponder was a horrible pick on draft day. I wasn't on this board then, but when I came here, Demi was making a lot of the comments I thought about Ponder. And we were right. He never got his act together. I would actually say he declined. But people loved asking me why I watch the Vikings, why I post here, etc., when I couldn't stand Fraizer (as a HC) and Ponder (as anything but especially a QB for the Vikings). And how bad of a fan I was because I didn't see eye to eye with them. I guess some people hate the negatives (which is mostly what we have had since the Wilf's took over) and think people being negative about their team aernt as good of fans.

Hopefully now the Wilf's got it right. But there now way Rickie should still be here. The players we were stuck with last year were as much his fault as Childress's.

I watched a little of Pryor play this season and was impressive in what I saw. If all the Vikings had to give up was Ponder and 6th round pick than that would definitely be a steal for the Vikings.

He has a good arm and has the speed of the next gen QB. Not sure if he will fit into a Norv Turner Offense though because he plays a lot different then Phillip Rivers

Yeah, there was a point early in the season where raiders fans were extremely pleased with pryor. I'd take him as a free agent for sure on the cheap side.

The problem I have always had was your unrelenting negative posts about almost every thing Viking related (just like your little friend). We all got to read, in almost every topic, hundreds of times how you hate Ponder, you hated it when they drafted Ponder, "because you knew he would suck" , Ponder sucks Blah Blah Blah Blah. Now you hate on Spielman (and here comes all those posts almost daily) and now you bad mouth the Wilfs The Wilfs, the owners that kept the Vikings in Minnesota, the owners that got a new stadium built, the owners that have opened up their pocket books and spent lots of money on free agents and signings, the owners who brought in Zimmer and Turner. Maybe you preferred Red McCombs
God forbid if the Vikings do not draft your boy Teddy and Holy Crap if they draft JFB. You fingers will probably fall of of your hands typing thousands of posts on why they did not draft Teddy and JFB sucks.

What does this even mean The boy that cried wolf was only wrong once I think you better go back and try reading the Fable. For fun, the little boy sheppard cried wolf over and over when there was no wolf and the one time he was telling the truth and there was a real wolf no one believed him. What does that analogy have to do with anything unless it means that YOU cry wolf about almost everything Viking related and finally you might be right about something?

It's kind of funny listening to some of the posters here comparing the worst QBs in the NFL to Ponder, when a few years ago, people were slamming Demi and I for picking on Ponder. But now that everyones doing it, and he had his "3" years, its ok. And Demi and I are once again fans. I also felt the same way about Fraizer when a lot of you were wanting him to be COTY. Guess what. Rickie boy isn't that good either. He is a very good salesman, I will give him that. And whoever he picks/reaches for as QB is this years draft, I am betting will be a bust too. Everyone hits a few picks. Even Childress. Rickie has been around the draft board ALOT with us, and has not amazed me at all. So its time to star making the excuse's for him about now guys. Im guessing Carr or JFB. And im guess NFL busts for both.
