Interesting. I wonder if the Chiefs will lose Schwartz too.

Me too. Falcons paid him well
Tom Pelissero ‏@TomPelissero 4m
Paul Soliai's deal with #Falcons: 5 years, $33M, $14M guaranteed and he gets $11M in the first year. Quite a payday.

I'm reading that the Giants signing Geoff Schwartz is a done deal. Damned good thing the Vikings and the Chiefs didn't make multi-year commitments to him. Good for the Giants, that is.

I think the Vikings got their two highest priority UFAs signed, but I'm surprised they didn't sign more of their own before free agency began. Jerome Simpson, Joe Berger, maybe Fred Evans, Kevin Williams, Desmond Bishop.

But, they've got Jasper Brinkley locked up, so they have that going for them.

I'm not. If I remember right, they took the same basic approach last year. Maybe they want to let the market set the price for those players, assuming they want any of them back. I'm guessing they'll sign a few.

It's also possible that some of those players want to explore the market and consider their options.

Bishop is not getting resigned, and Evans I'm not sure either. I wouldn't be surprised if Berger or Simpson was resigned at some point, but neither on is that desperate a priority.

Williams I think will be resigned sooner or later.

Jags trade Blaine Gabbert to the 49ers for a 6th round pick
Also if the Jaguars can get a 6th round pick for Gabbert, maybe there's a market for Ponder after all

Jasper Brinkley. Desmond Bishop. Jasper Brinkley. Desmond Bishop. Jasper Brinkley. Desmond Bishop.

Hmm. Tough decision.

There probably is there is if the Vikes want to trade him. The idea that he's so bad he isn't even worth a draft pick always seemed silly to me. He was the QB of a playoff team in his first full season as a starter. He has value.

Meh, any difference in their ability is negated by the fact that Bishop is injured so often. He signed a prove it deal last year and failed to prove anything, one more injury and his career is likely done, if it isn't already

No surprise that the Vikings aren't attacking the Free Agency. When do we ever? It seems like only guys we usually sign are "depth" guys. Every now and then we get desperate at a position then we go get an aging Brett Favre or a 30 yr old Greg Jennings.
