Yes. Thank you.

I honestly don't see the fascination with signing ex Packers, it makes our organization as a whole look envious and like we have an inferiority complex or something, it would be different if we could actually win a SB with those players, but as it stands now we just like to give them the money that the Packers brass doesn't believe they are worth.

I wonder if the interest in Johnson means they are going to let Griffen walk. Thoughts?

They might want to sign both of them but "combine buzz" doesn't necessarily mean the Vikings have even expressed interest in Johnson. It could just be reporters talking and connecting the easy-to-connect dots between Zimmer and Johnson.

Yes, this is true. I'm really curious to see what Griffen winds up getting (either from Vikes or other). He's shown flashes of brilliance but really doesn't have a huge body of work as a full time starter. How much will someone be willing to pay for potential? This is one of the more intriguing stories of the offseason, IMHO.

I agree. Will teams perceive him as a full-time starter or will they see him as more of a situational player? I doubt he's going to get a huge contract but at his age, with his skills and athleticism, he seems likely to generate interest from more than one team (assuming the Vikings don't manage to re-sign him before free agency begins).

Yes, and I think it is also fair to assume that Zimmer likes "his guys." He likes familiarity. He already spoke of not knowing enough about Griffen. He knows what he is getting with Johnson, both on and off the field. I think that says a lot, and I wouldn't be surprised if he was really pulling for this signing, especially with the uncertainty of Griffen. We shall see, but my initial thoughts were they'd let Griffen go if they were confident about the Johnson signing. The Vikings, as a whole, have to be on the same page, though. That might be a bit more tricky when the money talks begin. But I think Zimmer has his preference here, and I wouldn't be surprised at all if Johnson ends up a Viking. How often have we heard that people LOVE playing for this guy? If he follows him over, it all adds up.

We need a qb. If we don't trade up to grab bortles. Then I say forget the qb positing all together this year and pick up Mariota next year FOR SURE. I wanna see how Winston pans out too.

WE NEED A QB. Seattle has been this good for a while, the qb pushed them over the edge, we can build around the qb all we want, it won't translate till we have a qb. It's gonna take a few years for the new qb to get his feet under him. That's when you build around him. And fast if he's that good.

This whole Viking mentality that we need to build around the qb constantly and wait for one to fall in our laps is bull.

The only times the vikings have been successful, is with a star qb behind center. Tarkington, favre, and cunningham.

I mean Jesus.

And I wish people would stop saying we tried this a few years ago.
No. Ponder WAS NOT a top prospect that we gambled on. He was a second rounder that we picked in the first round like #### idiots. Newton went in that draft am I wrong?

Gambling on a top qb would have been jumping to get newton.. and THAT failing.

The vikings haven't taken a qb at the to of the Draft ever I don't think.

We always under estimate the Draft. Take the hershall Walker trade. We'd rather give up on Emmit Smith as a Draft prospect, plus how many other Draft picks that trade, for a washed up player?

Until we take a qb high. It's hopeless.

Very happy about zimmer and turner though.

The highest QB the Vikings have ever taken is Culpepper at 11. Then Ponder, Tommy Kramer at 27 and Fran Tarkenton at 29. Which back then was the third round.

-Smith remains a starter and we sign Jairus Byrd in Free Agency.
I like a lot of what your thinking but I think the Bills are going to franchise Byrd if they can't resign him.

I would love LB Mack but i think he will be gone by 8th pick

I wouldn't be surprised if we don't four defensive players by round 5

DE (2) DT LB AND CB

Hardly a coincidence we don't have a ring. If we even had an Eli when we had those solid overall teams around him we might have a championship. Even if we assemble a team we don't have a QB to lead them. :(

Seahawks with a veteran QB last year are the Seahawks with Hasselbeck. You need a TEAM...with a top flight QB to lead them. We aren't close to either. :(

Always easier when you have the top QB that makes the rest of the team look better. Look what happened to the Packers when Rodgers went down. Look at what happened when Manning left the Colts. Although they lost other as well, Manning was the main loss for the season. Good QB's can make average defense's look good. Although what the Vikings put on the field for defense last year wasn't even close to average. Two years before the Vikings are competitive again. On defense and offense, if we find a "Good" QB.

Whatever personnel you have on defense, it is going to be an aggressive defense. You won't be disappointed.

Funny because I'm practically positive that's who were taking with our first pick.

At this point I hope teams fall for him and let a guy like Teddy slide because he didn't throw or run at combine. Watkins and Evans' stock went up too.
