That sort-of happened with Turner in Dallas and Troy Aikman.
In 1991 Turner came, Aikman was 65.3%, 11 TD 10 INT
then in 1992 Aikman was 63.8% 23 TD 14 INT
I've got to think the Vikes will draft a new starting QB. Turner knows that the roster is full of second stringers, and I doubt someone so high-profile would be willing to take the job without being given any say over who the QB will be.

Ponder was thrown into the fire without a rookie training camp (not a great way to start a career) . I am the first to admit that he has made several, several, several bad errors on the field but he has played behind a poor pass protecting line and has played with broken ribs, a seperated shoulder, torn bicep muscle and a myriad of other injuries. I would love to see him given a chance with a good coach and an improved line. Just let him have the chance, since he is already signed, to go to camp and fairly compete for a roster spot. Before the snarking starts, clearly understand that I couln't care less to get bashed for supporting him getting another chance with this new coach and system.

Yeah I actually agree with PB. Might as well give him a shot with some real coaching. Watching this video it makes me think he needs some coaching up of his fundamentals (footwork seems happy and sometimes his windup is needlessly long). I still think our previous coaching staff was garbage quite honestly.

When he came off the bench against Washington, he handed the ball to AD for a 1 yard TD run set up by the scramble and dive by Ponder to put the ball just short of the goal line. That score gave the Vikes the lead and Washington never scored again. Cassel directed 2 drives that resulted in FGs after that but it's a stretch to say he came off the bench to engineer a win in that game when a handoff to AD gave the Vikes a lead and the Redskins were shut out the rest of the way.
It's much more accurate to say he did that against Chicago. His play was instrumental in the Vikes getting that win.
I'm still confused about this. Did this actually happen or not? Because the only place so far that I've seen say that it happened is PFT, and there is no link in their article to the source of their info. Literally no other major website has posted anything about this

I would also like to see what Turner can do with Ponder. I was a big Ponder fan But can Ponder play a full season without injury. Ponder is injury prone going back to his college days.
