Of course. Depends on who is available. It just makes more sense that this team now adopt a defensive persona to establish the team and move on from there. Just a hunch.dead_poet wrote: That is FAR from a guarantee. It depends in who is there and I assume Spielman still has full roster control.

Mel Kiper's 1st mock draft has Manziel going #1 to Houston, and Bridgewater falling to us at #8.
Seems unlikely. Who knows though.

If Teddy is available then yes. Get him! Seems like a stretch though from everything that has been said about Teddy. His stock would have to fall a bit, for him to be there at #8.

Re: 2014 Vikings Draft Discussion
For me the only 2 quarterbacks that I would take in the first is Manziel and Bridgewater. If the aren't I would want them to take best available at the first and second round pick then if we haven't taken a quarterback take 2 in the third and the. Just go back to BPA.
I KNOW that it is terrible to use 2 picks on a quarterback back but desperate times call for desperate measures.
We could then pick up a veteren or keep cases land make some things happen hopefully this year.
Sorry for any grammatical errors but I hate typing on my phone.

I -could- see it playing out like that, interchanging a few names. Jags at #3 there are the biggest question though, Clowney might be ridiculous but they have the worst QB situation in the NFL.PotGoblin wrote:wonder what this guy at espn is smoking

I think Zimmer knows full well that without a QB his tenure as a HC will be very short. There is no way they do not come out of this offseason without additional options at QB.

Bortles? I think he's a reach there.
We're pretty set at WR, but a guy I think is a sure fire bet to be a face of the franchise kind of guy is Sammy Watkins.

Re: 2014 Vikings Draft Discussion
Some are starting to pick on Bridgewater's size. Not his height but his weight. Which means he could fall to 8. Here's the thing. The kid is only 21 years old. He ways only 196 pounds. A lot of guys don't put on those extra few pounds until they reach 23-24. Just a thought.COViking wrote:For me the only 2 quarterbacks that I would take in the first is Manziel and Bridgewater. Any grammatical errors I blame on not paying attention in English class.

Re: 2014 Vikings Draft Discussion
We desperately could use a linebacker. We'll probably need to replace a few spots on the D-line. Though...Does anybody else think about how fierce the Vikings secondary would be if they drafted Darqueze Dennard? Rhodes, Dennard and Harrison Smith. Wowzers!
Since they have one or more holes on each level of the defense, they may as well clearly define and appoint one unit as the heart and soul of the defense. I know it's #### backwards because you usually want to work from the D-line first, but with how free agency can workout and with Zimmer's garnered respect around the league, they may be able to pull a Greg Hardy or his boy from Cincy, Michael Johnson (shoe-in?). Of course that leaves a glaring hole at LB, but even so, how does the defense not start a path to be greatly improved by doing that? The linebackers list of FA's is underwhelming after Brian Orakpo, but still some solid football players they can grab (Donald Butler).
I want to be a GM.

You have me all hot and bothered thinking about that CB duo of him and Xavier hahaha. Dennard is absolutely the real deal. I would be elated if we drafted him.PacificNorseWest wrote:We desperately could use a linebacker. We'll probably need to replace a few spots on the D-line. Re: 2014 Vikings Draft Discussion
With the hire of Zimmer and the addition of Norv Turner, I am much less anxious about who they get as a QB in this draft. I have much better confidence that this coaching bunch can develop A QB and set up an offense around that QB.
So, IMHO they can now just take the BPA and run with that strategy. They need to draft one, I just think they don't have to press to find one.

Re: 2014 Vikings Draft Discussion
Yeah, I mean it's a good question. The good thing is that LB has been in Griffen's scouting profile. Depth is so important on that D-line that I don't want him to walk just because that's now 3 quality DE's. If Zimmer feels he can move him to LB then that also improves the situation at that position group. Another factor is defensive scheme that Zimmer implements. I'm sure he knows damn well what to do. He'll evaluate the players on the current roster and weigh all of it to make sure the system is right for the personnel or the personnel he will acquire.Adrianpeterson28mvp wrote:
You guys keep bringing up we look at Hardy or MJ, which I'm not opposed to but what do you plan on doing with Everson Griffen? Robison is under contract already, are you suggesting we sign someone and let Griffen walk? Or would you prefer him playing somewhat out of place at LB?
I think he can be very valuable for the Vikings if he really can move to LB.
