Thought the same thing. What an absolutely horrendous hire. I bet he's fired a year from now.Orion wrote:Yes lions got jim caldwell! At least we wont be last place next season!

Watching Football Life on Bill Parcells:
6 former assistants of Bill Parcells went on to win a Super Bowl. I would love for Zimmer in Minnesota to make that 7.

Re: 2014 Current and Potential Coaches
Who knows? I think most fans are just a little too anxious right now because they see all these headlines about Zimmer being the favorite of all candidates. Then the fact that he's having a second interview, people are automatically assuming that he's getting hired. Interesting he had a 2nd interview with the Titans prior to visiting us but they didn't choose him. We could be waiting for Adam Gase (Broncos) or Greg Roman (49ers) to finish their season so they can conduct more interviews. There's still Todd Bowles who I think will get the job if they don't get Zimmer.MountainGirl wrote: I'm starting to think they must have someone else on the radar.

Linehan...are you kidding me.PurpleKoolaid wrote:Roman is out there yet right? With Roman we wouldn't have Linahan. But Im still hoping for Zimmer.

Not saying you're wrong..but what is the specific gripe with Linehan? I posted this earlier, didn't get any feedback on it though:Demi wrote: Linehan...are you kidding me.
I'm not as down on the possibility of Linehan as offensive coordinator as many here are. When he was the Vikings OC from 2002 through 2004 we were 2nd, 1st, and 4th in offensive yardage. We were also 8th, 6th, and 6th in scoring. Additionally, in 2002, we were 1st in total rushing, rushing touchdowns, and rushing yards/attempt.
I understand that having Randy Moss greatly benefited Scott's offenses, and we did have a nice offensive line. I still think he did a good job with us, as well as with Detroit the past few seasons. Is his failure with St. Louis causing the negative reaction? Or was it his previous stint with us? I remember a lot of fans complaining about his running the ball so much when we had Moss to utilize (running the ball was utilizing one of Randy's greatest assets, the attention a defense paid him), never understood that.
Really though, he's done a fine job everywhere he has been a coordinator in my opinion. Some guys aren't cut out to be head coaches, seems like Scott isn't. Doesn't change the fact that he is a solid offensive mind.

@MasterStrib 3m
Spoke to Mike Zimmer briefly. Asked if he was offered the HC position, he said no. ...He's expected to remain in town Wednesday #Vikings
Re: 2014 Current and Potential Coaches
Viking officials meeting tonight to determine whether or not to offer him. We will hear that he's our new head coach sometime tomorrow before noon.Crax wrote:

Looks like they got their other corner to start opposite of Rhodes.

Pacman is under contract with Cinci for another two seasons. He's just talking about Zimmer.PacificNorseWest wrote:Looks like they got their other corner to start opposite of Rhodes.
Re: 2014 Current and Potential Coaches
So perhaps Rick does intend to go through the process and give 2nd interviews to all finalists (Bowles, and who else?)..or maybe after talking it over, they give him a ring tomorrow before he leaves, and we have our 9th head coach?
@MikeSilver According to a source familiar with the situation, no deal as of tonight between the Vikings & Mike Zimmer...
@MikeSilver Zimmer is preparing to leave Minneapolis in the morning, which a source says was always the plan...
@MikeSilver I wouldn't read much into the lack of a deal (as of now) between Vikes & Zimmer, either way. He's a very enticing candidate. Fluid situation
@MikeSilver Number of really smart & tough football people/players I know rooting hard for Mike Zimmer to get this job: Hundreds. Or more.
@MikeSilver Becoming an NFL head coach is Mike Zimmer's dream. So yeah, it's a stressful time...
@christomasson Just talked to briefly to Mike Zimmer About interview he said "It went fine'' I asked if he'd been offered the job & he said, "No not yet"
Re: 2014 Current and Potential Coaches
And another one..@AlbertBreer
Also, on Zimmer, I think odds are he gets the Viking job. Flying back to Cincinnati in the morning was always part of the plan. We'll see.
