Packers @ Vikings Game Day Discussion Thread -- Week 8

Post by yezzir »

Welp......... SKOL!

7:30 kickoff.

Possibly Ponder's last start as a Viking.

Prediction: AD is gonna have a HUGE game (200 yards) and carry the team.

I think Peterson is still lame. They'll probably limit his carries to under 15 and maybe he'll get 60 yards. Expect to see some Gerhart carrying the ball. If the Vikings get 100 yards total on the ground they'll be lucky.

The Vikings/Packers rivalry IS a rivalry for close games. I think no matter the winner, it's going to be a close game despite the fact that Minnesota isn't performing too well. The last win that Ponder took for the Vikings against the Packers was 37-34, home. I believe we have all been reluctant to feel confident towards Ponder playing, but this home game against the packers can be good if 1) Ponder doesn't get careless, and 2) If AP gets involved and uses his power against the Packers outside linebackers Mulumba and Palmer.

As much as I want to say we are gong to win there is absolutely no reason to pick the Vikings.

O Line is a mess, QB situation is a mess, coaching is a mess, DBS are a mess, and Peterson is gimpy. Add in the fact it sounds like the Metrodome will be full of Packer fans and this could be embarrassing, humiliating and just plain ugly. All Live on NBC! :wallbang:

Because he is. He just has the unfortunate situation of being compared to AD, potentially the GOAT, every game. He has moved enough piles, run over enough people, etc to make me believe he could be a solid power running back on any other team. Just not here.

Same as last week only worse. A strong start, Packers adjust to our childish game plan and heap TDs, embarrassment and humiliation on us. Ponder horrible. Musgrave predictable. Another winnable game senselessly lost. Afterward, Frazier mumbles about execution (his?), and needs to look at film but plans no changes. "No, I don't see a need for change. We just need to execute better". Frazier fired Tuesday. Brian Billick hired Wednesday.

On any game day anything is possible. Let's hope for a win. It's too bad the quarterback with the most current talent isn't starting. The Vikes deserve better. Trying to stay positive, but looking the obvious in the face makes it difficult.

I'm pretty sure the Packers have a lot of injured players. Stopping Lacey will be a big deal.

Which of the Three Stooges would that be? You say it as though it were obvious. It's anything but.

It's not definitive, but Freeman is more talented than both of them, imo.

Rivalry game or not, I hate to say it but I see this one being something like 40-27 pack and most of that 27 comes in garbage time. For a team with the mantra of "stop the run, run the ball, and play good defense" I honestly don't think we can do any of those 3 things and oh yeah we're going against Aaron Rodgers. That means it's going to be up to Ponder to the carry the load and well, I don't see us having any chance in this one.

I am sure not why, but I cannot help but see shades of 2007 vs Green Bay at home. Kelly Holcomb was our QB because both Brooks Bollinger and Tarvaris were injured. Coincidentally, 6 years later we are on our third starting QB in the last three games (only difference is Ponder was once the starter). That game was awful.

I guess my overall point is I have a feeling that this game is going to be 'awful.' I am fearful Aaron Rodgers may set the single game passing record against our defense. I hope we can win and I know divisional games are never easy to call, but I feel like we will be embarrassed in the national spotlight for the second consecutive week.
