In an earlier post one board member mentioned that the team just needs to blow this thing up and basically start over. There is no question that there are huge gapping holes on both the offensive and defensive side of the ball which will not get fixed with the addition of 1 or 2 players. If that is true and this is turning into a 1-2 year rebuilding project then is it time to consider the unthinkable and trade the franchise.

Obviously there will NEVER be another H. Walker deal but trading AP while he is still the best RB in the game would certainly demand numerous draft choices and possibly a player. Who knows what a team that feels they are just that one player short might be willing to offer.

TO BE CLEAR: I am not advocating this trade. I am just throwing it out there to consider and I am now ready to be properly ostracized for even mentioning it.

Well he is obviously as frustrated as we fans are. I dont think its easy to build a team around one guy, especially a RB. Without a passing game, and without the ability of our front line to be able to stop a blitz, he is doomed here. I dont wanna see Purple Jesus (what we Illinois Viking fans call him) leave.... lets just see what Freeman can do, and see if he offers a francise head to the team.

Again, for the 5th time this has come up, no one has 100 million in cap space available for a running back to take on his contract so even if someone offered us their entire draft for 2 years it wouldn't work.

I'm sure its not directed at you personally, but in the last 3 days we've had numerous repeat threads by posters who apparently haven't been reading the forum at all.

Me, I'm waiting for someone to post another thread that Freeman is starting Monday.

The only "gaping" hole on offense is at QB. The G position is a little weak, and depth at WR and TE isn't great, but the starters are all solid.

ANY competent NFL QB would make a huge difference for this team. We have some really good receivers and the BEST RB in the league AND a kick-#### TE.....we just have crappy QB's and coaches that can't coach talent or rookies.

Peterson is only under contract through 2017, when he'll be 32. Given that he'll be making $15M in 2016 and $16M in 2017, if he's not still putting up huge rushing numbers, he might not even last that long with the Vikings. I think there's a very good chance that he'll play elsewhere before his career is through, although the Vikings will never be able to trade him with that contract.

No team is going to want an expiring contract over 30 year old defensive end...who's making 17 million dollars this year...and has clearly lost a step. (Or is he injured again like his shoulder last year?...)

2 things, and one has already been pointed out as far as contract. It isn't just the cap, no team that is a winner has built their team around a RB, and so no winning team will take a RB that eats that big of a % of their season cap. Also there is no way in hades, that a team will give up multiple picks and player(s) for a RB who has 2,000 carries on his body. Someone may have after 2009 or 2010, but any smart GM knows the life of a RB in the NFL. Adrian will not be a stud 3 years from now, he has already had one shredded knee, and he has played physical througout his career. Trading a bounty on a player with all this to consider is franchise suicide, and a fireable offense.
