Re: Stadium build thread
Will there be a delay in the state paying their portion of the construction?

It looks like a Saints website, so I'm suspicious of the accuracy, but has anyone else heard about the Gov allegedly delaying signing off?
Just curious....

Seriously, I have no idea. It seems a bit late in the game for that. I sure hope it's unfounded speculation~
Dayton questions business dealings of Vikings owners
This could get very uncomfortable for the Wilfs before all is said and done. Hopefully, there won't be any lawsuits, or the Vikings could end up playing in TCF for couple of decades.

Gov. Mark Dayton, the prime political force in the drive to build a $975 million stadium for the Minnesota Vikings, questioned the team owners’ business ethics Thursday and urged a review to ensure that team’s commitments in the stadium deal are “truthful and accurate.”
“I find it very, very concerning,” Dayton said Thursday

Thank you for exposing me to the adjective "wonky". I've never heard it before but I will now be using it.The Breeze wrote:One thing that I really think will be a huge plus for the team is how much natural light they will be exposed to as a result of the design. It may sound a little wonky, but I think it will drastically improve their success in outdoor stadiums down the road.
It would be interesting to see some stats on outdoor teams' records in Domes and vice versa.

I can't believe this idea actually went through. The best part of pull tabs is actually pulling the tabs apart.dead_poet wrote:E-pulltab haul for new Vikings stadium is zero in first year

It looks like the stadium plans are already into a budget overrun (not uncommon in construction projects). The Vikings are having to consider downsizing their plans.
Fox wrote: The Minneapolis Star Tribune reports that the team is having trouble staying within its $975 million budget and likely will have to cut some features from its new stadium.

WTF?FOX wrote:The Vikings may have won the cool factor sweepstakes with the design for their new stadium, but that doesn’t mean they’re actually going to be able to build the monstrosity that turned so many heads.

Someone at FOX has a rather strong opinion on the new stadium design.

The media for the most part has been pretty adamantly anti-stadium throughout the whole process.Eli wrote: WTF?![]()

I've been in Montana for a long time. can someone please explain to me this form of gambling? do you have other gambling there besides the lottery and what you'll find at the large casino resorts?yezzir wrote: I can't believe this idea actually went through. here we don't have any big casinos with table games. but we have electronic keno/poker machines almost everywhere you go. nearly every bar has these and even most gas stations have little casinos to play. keno is probably the most popular game. the max you can win with any one push of the button is $800. that said you don't have to cash a machine out until I believe $3500 when it does it automatically. can't imagine that happens often.
just curious on what kind of gaming you guys still have if you don't venture to one of the big resorts.
i'm ready for a beer.

Worst news I've heard all year. Was soooo looking forward to watching video of that dump being imploded.

How depressing. I was hoping for that too. Leave it to Minnesota to ruin something like this.thatguy wrote: Worst news I've heard all year. Was soooo looking forward to watching video of that dump being imploded.

We don't have casino-esc gambling outside of the casinos, it's not legal to have slot machines and that type of thing. One of the ideas that was floated around was basically to allow slot machines at the horse tracks and to tax it, which would have easily funded the stadium, but there's a pretty strong Native American lobby here, who have a government-granted monopoly on gaming, so it never really got off the ground.vikeinmontana wrote: I've been in Montana for a long time. can someone please explain to me this form of gambling? do you have other gambling there besides the lottery and what you'll find at the large casino resorts?
