Should we trade for Freeman?

If Josh Freeman picks a team tonight, doesn't sound like it'll be #Vikings. Told there's nothing imminent. Still doing due diligence.

Night is young. Raiders play later. RT @BroncoBob360: @TomPelissero Josh Freeman is watching this game and considering going to Houston .

If our team were a person, he'd be required to wear one of those padded helmets everywhere, and he'd be riding the short bus. Most other teams seem to be getting pretty good production out of their rookie QB's year 1. If anything, take Freeman as an insurance policy, but I'd still draft a QB in the first round. I don't know how bad we'll finish but Bridgewater is probably out of the question. Jacksonville is probably already negotiating with him, so I'd go after McCarron.
FINALLY. Someone who knows a QB when they see one! Roll Tide!!!

Re: Should we trade for Freeman?
As for this whole Josh Freeman situation, im just now learning that he got released a few days ago. I thought the team was still trying to trade him. I think the best fit for him is Minnesota. I'm not saying this because im a fan of this team either. I think Freeman sucks. I think if he ever plays on this team as a starter we MIGHT be out of playoff contention for years to come. But it seems like he's looking for a new place to wet his feet. I think he will make a perfect transition here. He's definitely better than Ponder and an upgrade over what we have now. Not to mention he will have Adrian Peterson to bail him out when the passing game starts to stink.

Since when is he a headcase other than the mud slinging from the Bucs front office? He hasn't gotten into any major trouble, and put up elite stats for a couple of years.
Re: Should we trade for Freeman?
Because he's an upgrade over everyone at the position? And has a better arm than Ponder and Cassel combined.Jeffbleedspurple wrote:Vikings are signing Freeman,Why do they want to deal with this headcase? So who will meet the chopping block to make room for him?

That wont mean anything we he continues to miss team meetings and be late for practices. Freeman has too much baggage. This move again proves how desperate the Vikings are.
Re: Should we trade for Freeman?
Way more upside than Ponder. Freeman has the physical skills that Ponder lacks... and he's played at a high level. Maybe it works out... if it doesn't, it's just a one-year deal.JEC334 wrote:

I'd be a little desperate too if my MVP player's years were being wasted by awful QB play. Freeman has shown to be reeallyyyy good.

Re: Should we trade for Freeman?
I have to disagree, Jim. I think plenty of Vikings fans would be willing to watch a young QB develop, provided he is in fact developing. Ponder has not done that, IMHO, as he's been consistently inconsistent during his entire tenure with the team.Mothman wrote:This is not a fan base that's inclined to be patient with a young, developing QB or a reclamation project.
The last young QB we watched develop was Culpepper, and while he had his struggles, I think that is the type of arc one hopes to see when a younger QB is made the starter. It's too bad Daunte got hurt when he did and then the coaching staff changed, because I think he had a real chance to be that franchise guy for the Vikings.

Why would the Bucs sling mud at a guy they used a 1st rounder on, has started for them for 5 years, and who they want to get something for in trade if they could? You don't talk a guy like that down unless the word is already out in regards to his problems.yezzir wrote:

You are maddeningly inconsistent when it comes to problem players. Get rid of Harvin because he's a headcase, even though he's also an upgrade over everyone at his position, but sign Freeman?Demi wrote: Because he's an upgrade over everyone at the position?
