It grazed his fingertips. He was wide open. It shouldn't have been that difficult a catch. And I agree he shouldn't take all the blame, plenty to go around.ranskal wrote: I saw 2 or 3 bad throws, including the one he rolled to the right on. Webb should have caught the TD...it hit both of his hands.
I am not saying Ponder is great but for him to take all the blame is pathetic. The defense can't stop anybody, they've proved that for the second straight week where Ponder's led offense gave them a lead, and their O line play is bad...look at Peterson's production. Does AP suck too or is it just Ponder? Geez...

It barely toached his fingertips, is was way overthrown, when he had time to throw it!ranskal wrote: I saw 2 or 3 bad throws, including the one he rolled to the right on. Webb should have caught the TD...it hit both of his hands.

Did you see Ponders check down passes with very little time left in the game? I bet you loved that. good ball control right?

60% lmao! He sure called some bad plays didn't he???Purplemania wrote:Dude, no one is purely blaming Ponder. But personally, I blame at least 60% of the game on him. His missed throws, then the most pathetic attempt at a game winning drive....
Your QB gives the defense a lead and all they need is a stop, for the second week ago, and they can't get it done and it is 60% on the QB. You guys are funny. I'm sure he had plenty of time on that fumble as well. We get it, you don't like Ponder but the blame you are trying to put on him for this loss is hilarious!

Whatever. Ponder is the key reason this team lost. When you miss open WRs and make boneheaded turnovers, it takes the confidence out of your team. Yes the the o-line was horrible, but WRs were open. You don't need 5-6 seconds to throw the ball all the time. When Ponder had the little spark going in the 2nd half, you see the team got better around him. But when he crashed in burned in the 4th quarter, the team went down with him. The QB position is a very powerful position. The QBs performance affects the momentum of the team.

Those three did pay off to 10 points. You make it sound like they were starting on the Browns side of the 50 all day. Ponder may or may not be the QB of the future. But the Defense needs to stop the other team from scoring. Granted they got turnovers today. The offense scored 10 points off those turnovers. Then they let the Browns march right down the field and score in less than 3 minutes at the end of the game. Just like Chicago. This defense is not what it was. Like I said, it's real hard for ANY team to win when the other teams scores more than 30 points. It does not matter who the QB is. The Colts are 9-20 in the last 10 years when the other team scores more than 30 points. They are the best at it by far. The Pats are next at 5-15. The league average, 11.2%. So blame Ponder. But sometime, somehow, the defense need to stop the other team.VikingLord wrote: That's it?
You make it sound like that is pretty minor, but for a team at home those short fields should pay off.
Look, if you want to defend Ponder that's cool. And you're right that Ponder wasn't all bad. He never is. I just don't think the guy has what it takes to win consistently in the NFL, and I sincerely hope that the Vikings are making plans on what to do at QB in the offseason, because I personally can't take another year of watching this guy.

He sucks. He is a genius, though, as he married Samantha Steele when he knew he was terrible but she didn't.

And you're right that Ponder wasn't all bad. He never is.

What are people seeing? You can't leave a dozen plays on the field. You can't be that inaccurate. You can't have the play by play guy calling you out a half dozen times or more EVERY GAME! You could make a highlight through the first 3 games with the announcers pointing out close to twenty plays where Ponder missed an open guy, threw an inaccurate pass to a open receiver, rolled away from no pressure. Hoyer made more plays this one game than Ponder made in the passing game all season.
