The NFL needs to clear up that rule. Too much gray area.

What needs to be cleared up? All turnovers are automatically reviewed, if you throw a challenge flag on a turnover it is either a penalty (unsportsmanlike conduct) or in this case what should have happened is that the Vikings should have lost a time out.
