Sunday VS Lions
I'm new to the board, die hard Vikings fan my whole life. I live in Michigan and my gf and I are attending this weekends game. This is my first Vikings game. Anyone there tailgating? I see all the articles expecting regression but but I'm expecting nothing less than a W this Sunday. Thanks for having me apart of this forum and and here's to a great season. GO VIKINGS!

and...

I expect the Vikings to win, too. I'll be thoroughly disappointed if they don't. They need to win a few of these first ones, because it gets pretty darn rough after that.

Re: Sunday VS Lions
I am also hopefully planning a trip to a home game this season.

Yes, I believe they can win this one. The lions road game is the division road game they pull off the most often!

I recommend it, especially since it's the last year in the Dome. Good luck!Abarlow22 wrote:I am also hopefully planning a trip to a home game this season.

I wouldn't be surprised to see a 4-1 start to the season honestly

Re: Sunday VS Lions
We have a brutal start. First two games are road division games a home game, and then a SUPPOSED home game against Pittsburgh in London. I doubt we start 4-1. If we do, Playoffs!!MelanieMFunk wrote: Let's get by the Lions first--and then we'll talk.Kidding. I looked over the schedule again the other day, and I was leaning towards that, too. That's all just wishful thinking, though. Hopefully they look as good as some of us think they are going to. We need to leave that preseason ugly in the past--and come out looking good! We haven't looked good since December. It's time!

Re: Sunday VS Lions
This is going to be a tough game on the road. It's going to tell us a lot about the Lions, too, so we'll see whether or not any of those predictions about the Vikings finishing last in the division have any merit.
If the Vikings can be 2-2 going into the bye week, I think they'll have started great.

Detroit: Below Average, Chicago: Average/Slightly Above Average, Cleveland: Below Average, Pittsburgh: Average, and Carolina: Below Average. What about those first 5 games makes 4-1 unlikely? I'll take 3-2 but no reason we shouldn't be 4-1
Re: Sunday VS Lions
Playing the first two games on the road and then playing Pittsburgh in London. London may be considered neutral ground, but there are likely to be more Steelers fans and the Vikings will be missing any crowd noise advantage of the Metrodome.Abarlow22 wrote:What about those first 5 games makes 4-1 unlikely?

Lol lots of love for my Lions... keep it coming guys...
Re: Sunday VS Lions
I definitely see us winning 1 of first 2 games and I just don't think Pittsburgh is anything to worry about. No good running back with Bell hurt, good but not great WR's, not very good Oline, QB is good but not truly great and no one really knows what to make of the defense.

Detroit is average at worst. I really think people are vastly underestimating the difference Reggie Bush will make to this offense. He's an absolute perfect fit. And Ziggy Ansah is the real deal. Detroit wins this one 27-17Abarlow22 wrote:Detroit: Below Average, Chicago: Average/Slightly Above Average, Cleveland: Below Average, Pittsburgh: Average, and Carolina: Below Average. Chicago is a legit team this year. Cutler, as obnoxious as his whining is, is the real deal. They've really revamped their OLine, and Bostic is the real deal. Their D an O will be better this year. And we NEVER win in soldier field. Bears win this one, 34-10
Cleveland is much better than people are giving them credit for. Norv Turner could be the best O-coordinator of his era (granted he's a horrible head coach). Brandon Weeden is in his 2nd year, Josh Gordon will be back, and Richardson is an absolute beast. That said, the vikings are at home and despite not having a QB, AD is a bigger beast. Vikings squeak this one out, 21-20.
Pittsburgh is just a better team, period. And its not really a home game. Big Ben is 20x the QB that Ponder is. Steelers win, 24-17
Carolina will be a super bowl contender this year. Their D should be pretty good and Cam is a legit MVP candidate. Vikings have proven not to be able to stop a mobile QB (see RG3). Cam will run all over this D, and Panthers win 34-13.
Anyone who thinks the Vikes will start 4-1 is totally delusional. I'll happily eat crow in October if that is the case, but I cannot see it happening.
1-4 start. Sorry guys.
