I'm not just talking about getting to be the "Home Team" in the SB (It truly wouldn't matter then). I mean literally that the SB is played (in this year's case) either in San Franciso or Baltimore depending on the result of the previous year's Pro Bowl. It would never happen for a variety of reasons (Bidding for hosting the SB, cold weather venues in late January, etc.) but it would make the Pro Bowl interesting again...

This would be awesome.

NFL eliminated traditional AFC-NFC Pro Bowl matchup; will be replaced with Pro-Bowl fantasy-like draft, per ESPN sources. Now players will be assigned to teams through the Pro Bowl Draft (really). Jerry Rice and Deion Sanders will be draft captains. No more kickoffs in Pro Bowl. Rosters will consist of 43 players per squad. Game will be played Jan 26 in Honolulu.

Nobody cares about the game, from the fans to the players. Just make it a skills competition.

Saw this Tweet in response to the change:
Hey, Aldon Smith. Go hit the hell out of Colin Kaepernick on the other team. Yeah, sure. Hey, Robert Mathis, go blast Andrew Luck.

Are they trying to make the game better or worse? I'm still debating.

Maybe they're trying to drive the final stake through its heart?

Just DIE already.

I'm beyond sick of the money-grubbing NFL. It's become just one thing after another, trying to milk every last godamned dime out of advertisers and fans alike.

And the worst part is the changes they are making aren't better for the PLAYERS, who are probably the most important part of the league. I wish Goodell would just go away.

I don't know that it makes much, if any, difference to the players. They get the accolades (and maybe a contract bonus), a free vacation to Hawaii, get to have a good time with their family and friends, then they play an exhibition game of touch football on TV. The game is the anticlimax to their Pro Bowl experience.

That's easily solved, just don't play those defenders when their QB is on the field, it's not like there won't be other talented DE/LB/whatever on the team.

That doesn't sound like an easy solution to me. Sounds rather convoluted. And it doesn't just apply to QBs. How hard do you think Chad Greenway is going play when taking Adrian Peterson or Greg Jennings to the ground?

When I heard this all I could do was shake my head. This is the dumbest idea since they moved the pro bowl ahead of the super bowl. They just keep piling bad ideas onto what has already become an unforgettable train wreck. Just end it already. We're just a few years away from the pro bowl becoming a flag football game featuring "celebrities" like Justin Beiber, and seeing crazy antics akin to a Globetrotters game. Can't wait!
