I don't know if it's similar to Sidney Rice's injury, but surgery for a hip labrum tear is what sidelined Matt Birk for the entire 2005 season.

I can't help but think Spielman and company win again. Percy Harvin is a GREAT football player but he's always injured or ill with something. That's why I wasn't so sure he was worth giving away a 1st round because of his recent medical history since being in the NFL. But apparently the Seahawks saw him that valuable.

This kind of makes me happy but I wish him well. Glad we kind of got rid of him now because he could've been still on this team HURT again, and in danger of possibly missing the season if he gets surgery. I know the Seahawks have to be worried right now. The gave away a 1st round pick but that's their problem. I just knew the Vikings would eventually get the better end of the deal.

But he's not injury prone.

Ha yeah same here, I had a deja vu moment when I heard the news. I remember having this same feeling over the whole Rice thing. It's like, well that kinda sucks to lose such a talent but the dude is always injured. This does help take the sting out a bit haha.

'cept this time we got something in return

Did you all just feel a tremor come from the pacific NW? It's not Mt. St Helens, it's the collective rumbling of Seahawks fans' guts after realizing they got another injury prone ex-Viking WR. Wouldn't surprise me at all if in the next few days we find out that he'll end up missing the whole season.

They said Favre was too old and crippled too but look what happened? Put up some career highs at the age 40! People are just doubting Jennings and just want to find any reason to believe the Vikings were desperate in signing him. Jennings talks as if he has something to prove is just how his work ethic is. It took T.O. almost to the age of 40 to want to get serious about the game. Jennings has been serious ever since he came to the NFL. I don't think his ego is that big where he thinks he's the best of the best out there. But at the same time he is coming off some injured riddled season, got short changed by Green Bay, so Im sure he's playing with a chip on his shoulder.

Completely agree.

On a side note. My avatar was a much cooler gunslinger than the guy on your avatar
A successful coach needs a patient wife, loyal dog, and great quarterback - and not necessarily in that order.

GBFavreFan wrote:Having read the article now you can really see how Greg Jennings will be one of THE most motivated players in the entire NFL this season. He boils his career down to people feeling that HE was the one carried by his QB, and he's going to show that HE is the real talent. I don't want to go off on too much of a Aaron Rodgers tangent but I felt the Packers have had the best receiving corps in the NFL since 2007 (Jennings, Driver, Finley, Jordy, and now Cobb) and watching the games I could see how AR was able to flourish because of it with guys always open, and all those 15 yard passes turned into 60 yard TD's. I'm not saying AR is bad, but a QB of a certain level is going to put up those types of numbers (Matt Flynn, etc.) I think the Packer receiving group slipped in 2012 (the numbers dropped too), and without Jennings will slip even more (when they face Xavier and healthy Cook!)

But my point is, while Jennings might not be as lethal as he was in 2008-2010, I think he can be a force and notch 1,000+ yds and 10+ TD's and show that he is a top guy and always was. But more importantly he really feels like he has a lot to prove, which I think is the reason why he is talking more and more about Rodger's insecurities and personality, since the result of the "praise AR as our God" environment, has been that Jennings is disregarded as a small cog in a bigger wheel. GJ wants to show 'em all!
I think the most important thing Jennings can do this season for the Vikings is show their younger players how it's done if they want long-term success. How to approach practices, how to practice, how to approach game-days and how to adjust. If younger guys like Wright and Patterson can get on the right track early in their careers, the Vikings might finally be back to an era where excellence at WR is expected year-in and year-out.

Of course, going over 1,000 yards with 10+ TDs wouldn't be bad for another thing he brings...
