Best tight ends of 2016: Kyle Rudolph

Post by dead_poet »

Here's what Horton wrote about Rudolph, who was an injury replacement to the 2012 Pro Bowl and wound up winning MVP honors:
"He is a gifted receiver with soft hands and he is Christian Ponder's favorite target. That should continue for years to come … if his QB plays to the level expected. Rudolph is a 'move' tight end who excels in space, and he is a tough defensive matchup. As much as his QB looks to him for a key play, this passing game doesn't stretch the field enough. Without Percy Harvin, can the guys outside threaten defenses enough to open things up for Rudolph? If that happens, the sky is the limit for him."

I have a good feeling that Rudolph will be one of the top-3 TEs in the league in a season or two. He's got all the tools to excel and he won't suffer as much as the WRs if Ponder struggles. Speaking of WRs, Rudolph should benefit now that we have some legitimate "real" starting wide outs. Rudolph will feast on mismatches and some good WR play will help make that happen.

This whole Hernandez & Pats TE situation could end up meaning a higher profile for Rudolph, actually. Gronk and Hernandez were considered among the elite TEs of the league so with both of those guys gone, fantasy football players will have to look elsewhere to fill that spot. Rudolph is there in that next tier down and could see a bump in value

Glad to see Rudolph participating in what is an annually solid (if not grueling) camp. Here's a background (including a hilarious picture of Everson Griffen) from 2012: http://www.azcardinals.com/news-and-eve ... 43d04ac731

I heard that Hernandez was heading back to school and will be playing for "Pen State" and will be coached by none other that Jerry Sandusky

2016? Try 2013. Rudolph should have a breakout year this year. He has progressed over the last few years. Jared Allen said in an interview with NFLAM that people can't forget about him. The anchors were asking about Greg Jennings and C. Patterson and he switched right over to Rudy. Lets hope Christian takes that next step for us, the team, and especially his young receivers.

Its hard not to get excited about this year. SKOL!

He has no quarterback. So another year to find one. A couple years to learn the position. And 2016 he'll a top 3 tight end with his new QB that can play the position competently, consistently.

He made it to the Pro Bowl (MVP) with that crappy qb throwing to him  Maybe the Vikes will find a better qb in the future and Rudolph will be even better
