I must be missing something, but I'd like to know what it is as the difference in money allowed to be offered is small.
The following are the year-one formula maximum and minimum allotments for each of the Vikings' picks, according to the NFLPA:
1. (23) Sharrif Floyd ($1,468,400 maximum, $1,230,364 minimum)
1. (25) Xavier Rhodes ($1,419,364 maximum, $1,230,364 minimum)
1. (29) Cordarrelle Patterson ($1,312,918 maximum, $1,230,364 minimum)
4. (120) Gerald Hodges ($510,027 maximum, $501,413 minimum)
5. (155) Jeff Locke ($451,048 maximum, $445,075 minimum)
6. (196) Jeff Baca ($429,150 maximum, $423,058 minimum)
7. (213) Michael Mauti ($420,682 maximum, $416,474 minimum)
7. (214) Travis Bond ($420,612 maximum, $416,474 minimum)
7. (229) Everett Dawkins ($417,588 maximum, $416,474 minimum)

Signing the first three, and the problem is.....?
A successful coach needs a patient wife, loyal dog, and great quarterback - and not necessarily in that order.

Everyone else can't be in the dark on this one like I am, or are we we?

Guarantees, signing bonus and offset language.

Othehr than your last reason given, the first two generally prorate with what's able to be offered in the first place with a rookie contract. Maybe Bishop and the recent top pick of the NFL draft is what Spielman is/was waiting on?

Joeckel just signed on Saturday (fully-guaranteed $21 million), no offset language. $13.8 million signing bonus is the biggest of the rookie class thus far. Dolphins may insist on offset language (as they have in the past), and other teams may be looking to follow suit (though the Lions did not).headless_norseman wrote:

This happens every year. The Vikings are typically among the last to sign their draft class (especially high rounders). I wouldn't be worried.

I should have stipulated along the way that I'm not the least bit worried with signing any of the 3. This is all but curiosity with me.

The majority of the bottom of the first round is not signed and several top picks including the number one pick
I am sure we will get them down in time

Re: Signing the first three, and the problem is.....?
The problem is probably drafting THREE top 5 guys as late as we did. Not sure we can even begin to pay them their real value considering the MASSIVE amount of talent all three of them possess. I can only assume their agents are arguing for top 5 money based on how UNSTOPPABLE they are.
