My biggest reservation about Sullivan is that he sometimes gets walked back in his stance in pass protection, collapsing the pocket. I think a lot of that, though, has to do with the guards playing next to him, as the interior lineman often team block defensive tackles and have to adjust to stunts and blitzes. Having Brandon Fusco and Charlie Johnson on his flanks hasn't helped him any.
Sully is starting to grow into Birk's shoes. His first year I kind of felt he was a weak link, but that's in part because he was being compared to one of the best centers in the game. He's measurably similar to Birk and clog up the middle (or open some good rushing lanes for Adrian). Considering how weak his guards are, he's done a good job of opening up routes and keeping Ponder from being sacked even more often.

I spelt it wrong.

I know what palpable means....it has to do with pocket awareness.

You're right Eli. Sully has a lot of accolades. Like the time he got elected to attend the pro bowl? Wait a minute.........................

Search for lists of the Top NFL Centers of 2012 and see if you can find a list where Sullivan isn't in the top 10.

He was awful in '09? Must have missed that. I guess I was too focused on how awesome everything else was looking. Well, for the most part! :P

Did you not read this in my prior post or just chose to ignor it
Chad Greenway, Matt Kalil, John Sullivan are Pro Bowl alternates:
"The Vikings have three alternates. They are linebacker Chad Greenway, who made his Pro Bowl debut last year; rookie left tackle Matt Kalil; and center John Sullivan, who would be making his first appearance....

Being elected to go to the Pro Bowl and replacing somebody is two different things. I will not take any article from the Star-Tribune serious in this particular based because the Star Tribune is a Minnesota based newspaper so you know their articles are going to be biased. The only thing I've seen Sully improve on was not throwing those ugly snaps that often leads to our QB fumbling the ball. Like he did on that 1st and Goal play in the NFC Championship against the Saints.

Now like I said, I will take a look at Sully this season and see how great he really is. Until the season starts, he's still garbage to me until then. Somebody mention about him getting a contract extension? I love the Vikings to death but how many times have we over-payed players?

Webb is a lot bigger then I thought. Did he put on weight or is he wearing different pads or what? He looked smaller last year when he played. Looks like he beefed up a bit or something. Was almost weird watching some of those DBs compared to him.

I'd hate to be in the huddle trying to understand his calls.

Our top-ranked center on the year, the Vikings’ running game wasn’t just about Adrian Peterson. No, center Sullivan deserves a lot of credit for building on his breakout 2011 to have an even better year where his ability to get defenders going where he wanted rightfully gets him inside the Top 30.

I noticed the same thing. Maybe it's because I'm not used to seeing Webb on the field as a receiver. I mean, most of the time I've seen Webb trying to elude DL players or linebackers and now he's running around with DBs chasing him. If the guy can adjust to being a WR, even if he's a situational one, his size could be used to an advantage.
