He was asked about having sour relationships with his coaches at every level and he said that he just laughs at all the reports because he has text messages from Frazier and other coaches that say otherwise...about them loving Percy and how they're going to miss him.
When asked why he wasn't utilized deep since his rookie year he said it was a mix of the offensive scheme and quarterback. Although the question was framed to include Ponder, he didn't deny that it was one big part he wasn't going long anymore.
Overall, it's hard to hate him really after hearing that. Just makes me wonder what REALLY went down. Time to move on, I suppose...
Exactly, why get caught up with what has happened? You can't alter the past, both sides got a good deal out of the trade anyway.
Obviously Percy's going to be more open to a local reporter than on the nationally televised stage, perhaps he did like the idea of opting for a more assured QB and if that's the case then so be it.
We'll see how it all turns out *sense of smugness*
Percy Harvin insists he "never had a problem" with Christian Ponder in Minnesota.
It's believed Harvin's incessant complaining about his former quarterback helped punch his ticket out of the Twin Cities. "I’ve never seen a problem he’s had with me; he’s never said he’s had a problem with me," Harvin said. "(We were) on the same page, it’s just a lot of articles that tried to pick up on things that weren’t there." Harvin should get along much better with play-making QB Russell Wilson. “Some people think football is a matter of life and death. I assure you, it's much more serious than that.” --- Bill Shankly
That is kind of ridiculous. We are supposed to believe there were no problems and thus the Vikings felt they got more value in trading one of the biggest playmakers in NFL for a few paltry draft picks?
I know some folks on here will say that Spielman and Co. really are that dumb, but that conclusion runs highly contrary to the way we've seen the last two offseasons run. On the same note, Harvin exhibiting some tempermental behavior squares well with his history. Simply put, you do not trade a guy like Harvin unless you have a reason.
This stinks of damage control in my opinion.

It may just be damage control but I don't think we're supposed to believe there were no problems at all. Maybe the problems just didn't involve Ponder. If I remember correctly, there was never more than speculation about that anyway. Spielman's decision to trade Harvin may have had to do with Harvin's overall attitude and/or how much money he was going to want to re-sign. I'm sure they traded Harvin for a reason but why does it have to involve Ponder?
Forget Percy Harvin, he's a chump. The Seahawks is an overrated team who everyone thinks are super bowl favorites. Even old man Winfield said in a press conference that as soon as he it the FA, the Seahawks was his #1 option because he felt like they had the best shot to win a super bowl. Its only a matter of time before they fail and Harvin becomes a headache for them.

I just listened to all of Harvin's Seattle press conferences and there is no way he even came close to saying anything negative about Ponder...Prove me wrong or quit making up crap there are enough haters on the board already
Do not mistake KINDNESS for WEAKNESS!
Best to keep your mouth shut and be thought a fool rather than open it and remove all doubt.
Man, shutup. I ain't gonna go digging through all of it just to make you happy. I am far from a hater and wouldn't make this up just because...I'm a Ponder believer.
Percy said it on radio interview here in Seattle and NOT a press conference. Back off.
ponder does stink, but patterson will make all of us viking fans forget about harvin. if ponder doesn't improve this year we need to go in a totally different direction at qb. why wouldn't harvin be upset with ponder, all he ever did was catch 3 yard outs (because ponder has no deep ball whatsoever) and turn them into 50 yard gains. harvin's yards after the catch last year were off the charts.

Okay, so this quote says Harvin doesn't think Ponder had an issue with him, but it doesn't say anything about Harvin's issue with Ponder.
Either way, there were some issues there. But both parties have moved on, and they are happy with the results. There is no reason to hold grudges and be nasty. What does that prove? They just need to prove it on the football field. We'll see how things play out.
But, there were definitely issues there. There is no doubt in my mind. And just Harvin's attitude when he first got there, and the way he talked about RW so fondly...it sure felt like a dig at Ponder to me.
Oh well. It's done and over with. I almost forgot about Harvin until I saw this thread again.
Percy is signing autographs at a sports memorabilia shop close to where I live tomorrow. My Seahawk friends think I should still be excited about this.
I am, as I'm sure most vikings fans are, upset that we lost such a talent. However, all this debacle has shown is that his peaheart rattled one too many times and his lack of character is proven. I honestly feel that he would of destroyed this young impressionable team we have from within.
Did he leave because of ponder? It's all relative now, but the team proved that they could not just compete, but play well without him.
We got rid at the right time, and our team looks very exciting for this coming season. We don't need someone like him ruining this team.
Looking at the squad as a whole, just quietly, how many comparisons can be made with the 98' team?
If Ponder plays well this year, I'd back us to take the NFC north, and put up a real challenge.
As long as some sort of revenge is dealt to Harvin and the seagulls, I'm happy.

That's covered elsewhere in the brief article. You have to actually click on the link and read the whole thing!
Personally and professionally. Different things. My statement was directly related to what he said on the radio and it pertained to the Vikings and their lack of throwing the ball down the field. To that, he said it was part scheme and part QB. Probably true. It also can be understood that he felt he would have a better chance at winning on a team with Russell under center as opposed to Ponder. Not directly said, but hinted. Can't blame Percy for that myself, but also, those are relative the play not Ponder as a person. I'm sure in that aspect Harvin has no reason to not like Ponder.
That's where my comments have stemmed from. I heard what I heard and he said what he said. I then inferred it to be an integral reason why he may not care to be in Minnesota, or rather, why Seattle appealed to him so much...The QB's. It's a very likely possibility.
