It is early but how many wins this year?

Even with the addition of Greg Jennings and Cordarelle Patterson, I fear that Musgrave's vanilla playcalling might hurt this team. I for one, do not want to see more run-run-pass this season. Time to be more aggressive and take some shots down field. I hope im wrong but I just have a gut the feeling, the offensive play calling will hurt us.

I agree. I bet we ran on 95% of our first downs. Maybe some can look that up.

I think the Vikings will take a bit of a step back next year. They were really lucky with injuries last year and the schedule next year is brutal and the "Home" game in London doesn't help either. The LB position is a total mess and I really think we will miss Winfield a lot more than people realize. And I'm still not a believer in Ponder.

I'm predicting 6-10, last in the NFC North. I'll take the under on that Vegas bet.

Like I said in a previous post on the topic, 10-6 and possibly 12-4 if Ponder shows marked improvement, our WR's perform as expected, our O Line protects Ponder and our D gets pressure and sacks on opposing QB's and our secondary comes up with resonable Int's and plays more man coverage.

I'm expecting big things from the Vikes this coming year!!! Skol....

To me, it _feels_ like a season that could easily be derailed, especially given the unlikely success of last year, the unexpected W/L record, and Petersons' other-worldy rushing performance. The Vikings are a very young team, with a QB with some confidence issues working with a WR corps that is suspect. And now they have some rather high expectations. It makes for a potentially volatile combination.

I guess that you guy's statements about being "charmed"/ lucky regarding injuries last year might be a little misconstrued. Losing their most dynamic player (Harvin) for a good part of the year, Simpson rendered nearly useless by injury, Carlson the same, J. Allen hampered by a bad shoulder throughout the year, Winfield's broken right hand, Ad with his lingering injury, promising Greg Child's devastating injuries to both knees, before the start of the season and then losing Ponder from injury
If that is being "charmed" I am hoping for better results this year.

I've been thinking the same thing. Look at it this way. The Vikings starting QB (Ponder), their #1 WR (Jennings), and their best CB (Cook) all have had injury concerns in recent years. If any one of those guys get knocked out of the season, and especially if more than one does, the team will not look the same. And no, I don't think Cassel will be a partiicularly effective replacement if Ponder gets hurt. Better than Webb, yes, but not great.

Nope. Only 60%. FWIW. New England ran on 49% of theirs and Green Bay. NFL average is 52% run, and 48% pass on first down.
