Kluwe send off party tonight @ Cause in Minneapolis.

Post by NextQuestion »

Hey guys - Tripping Icarus, Kluwe's band, is doing a "secret" mini set tonight at the venue I book for.

Red Flag + Deceitful Lapwings + Crooked Saws (Members of Tripping Icarus)
9pm | 21+ | $5

They'll more than likely be playing late but here's your chance to see him as this is more or less a "send off show"

I went in around 8:15 to get the bands all organized for the night with drink tickets and guest lists. I met Chris basically before doors and talked about some of the mutual friends we have (my friend Matt writes for Game Informer Magazine). We talked about music industry, self releasing records, recording in general, and some general music talk.

I think 120 people paid for the event which was nice because it wasn't flooded with people. People who are chilled out sports fans came with things for him to sign and he took photos with people after his set. My buddy brought in a football for him to sign haha.

We chatted about the same sex marriage voting going on in MN at the moment and also about brendon ayanbadejo. He said Brendon is getting into some public speaking since he was cut by Baltimore.

At the end of the day; Kluwe just looks like a normal guy. He's not super tall but he's lanky with long hair, wore flip flops (on stage too), and normal fitting jeans with t-shirt. Did not talk football as I'm sure he couldn't care less. His band is OK at best but they're better than I remember. He's coming along as a pretty melodic bass player and his band is steering away from the heavy 93x sounding stuff. going more of the shoe-gaze route.
