AD is a beast, but, man, you have to give Sullivan and the guys up front a lot of credit for last year. They opened up some of the biggest holes in recent memory. The only thing they need to do is give him a crease. Then it's goodbye.

Totally unreal athlete. Adrian Petersons never die attitude and explosive plays is what made me a die hard football fan and Viking fan in the first place. I'm sure he has another big year coming up for us and hopefully our team can rally and improve and get us all our first ring. After the 2012 season I have no problem saying (given he stays healthy) A.p will hold the rushing record for yards and tds and in my opinion will go down as the best PLAYER of all time.

It is actually scary to think what he can do with an actual receiving corps now that will keep defenses honest and not have 8 men front. I can't wait for this season to begin!

Code: Select all
Adrian Peterson & Pierre Thomas were only RBs to have higher YPC average against 8 men in the box, then vs 7 or fewer

That's interesting! I'm guessing it has to do with their ability to reach the second level and break tackles or run away from defenders. Once they get past those first 8...dead_poet wrote:PFF on TwitterCode: Select all

Nearly every big run in that video highlights the great blocks made by Jerome Felton.....guy was a beast last year and a huge improvement on past years.

I also notice that Devin Aromashadu is a very good downfield blocker. He is always blocking someone at the end of Peterson's runs.
The Devil whispered in the Viking's ear, "There's a storm coming." The Viking replied, "I am the storm." #SKOL2018

Heck, Kalil wasn't too far behind Peterson on some of those runsPurpleMustReign wrote:I also notice that Devin Aromashadu is a very good downfield blocker. He is always blocking someone at the end of Peterson's runs.

We have a stud LT.

If anyone on this team deserves a ring, it's #28. He will be the last Viking to wear that number, too.

Just watched it two more times, focusing on the blocking. It actually takes work because AD's running is such a marvelous distraction.
I agree w/ a poster up thread who noticed that Felton lays some serious blocks. Aroma has a sweet lick of a Packer at 5:10, among other nice blocks. And most surprising to me, Rudy dropped a fair number of defenders.
What a great guy to build your franchise around! Total determination and he always wishes he could have done more. It's cool that AD played an important part in lobbying to keep Loadholt. I think it was the right move. Continuity up front should help the unit immediately this fall.

The first game I ever actually got to attend in person at the dome was in 2007 at home vs the Chargers - apparently the running backs in that game were LaDainian Tomlinson and some guy who looked up to LaDainian Tomlinson.
well we all know the ending of that game

I love Simpson's block at 5:43. He straight up tackles the guy from behind.

...unreal.
I love that run vs. Green Bay at 3:12. Holy cow. 4 guys should have easily had him--then he's like..SEE YA! Gone!
Also, the last run vs. the Rams looks like a video game. Everyone running full speed just riiiight behind him but don't stand a chance. I love it.
His heart, talent, work ethic, and attitude is everything we could ask for. I'll take a few more just like him!

That's exactly right. The 8 men in a box D is fine as long as AD really is stopped around the LoS. If not, there is mostly clear field ahead. Let's not forget that a healthy Adrian Peterson is still a 4.3/40 sprinter. He wasn't early last season but his speed was back by late season and it showed.Mothman wrote: That's interesting! Anyway, this highlight reel is beyond inspiring. What a great athlete and story Adrian Peterson is!
