Any chance we package up more picks, including picks in next
years draft, to move up to the 2nd or 3rd round to pick up an LB?
Re: Any chance we package up more picks, including picks in
I hope not, these 3 guys are big time players and it's worth getting them but you cannot rebuild a team with 4-5 guys involving picks from two different years. At most I could see trading the other 3rd from the Harvin trade that's for next year if someone slides MASSIVELY, like Floyd slid on day1 massive. Otherwise I think we've made our bed, we knew going in it would be really tough to find starters for LB, WR, CB, AND DT, going in so to have 3 out of the 4 the way we did is already pushing it.
Plus I want us to keep that 3rd rounder in case there is a can't miss prospect at MLB (or any position, possibly the next QB if Ponder flops) next year we could package together to go up and get.

There's always a chance.

You need to fill the bucket with some little fish. You will starve if you only keep the big ones.

Not if they're big enough.Eli wrote:You need to fill the bucket with some little fish. You will starve if you only keep the big ones.

But if they're too small then we end up cutting them loose to make room for those with more meat anyway.Eli wrote:You need to fill the bucket with some little fish. You will starve if you only keep the big ones.

Really trade Gerhart for a 4th80 PurplePride 84 wrote:The only way we pick up another pick is if someone will give us like a 4th for Gerhart. I doubt we trade into to a round to pick today.

Spielman said the Vikings didn't place any calls about trading back into the draft on Friday and he'd prefer to "sit tight" with their five picks on Saturday: one each in the fourth (120th), fifth (155th) and sixth rounds (189th), plus two in the seventh (213th and 214th).
"I would like to keep all our picks, unless there's something that's so bizarre that you can't not do something," Spielman said. "And I don't want to touch our picks next year. We have four picks in the first three rounds next year, and I want to make sure we keep those."
The Vikings still have more waiting to do. That fourth-round pick is the 23rd of the round.
"I think we're going to get a couple very good players (Saturday)," Spielman said. "We still, I think, have 22 picks to wait before we select."

Dude, you need to relax. Your head must really hurt from all the headbanging going on.

Unfortunately this just doesn't make any sense. You don't think much of Gerhart, that's fine, but if that's the case and you're right, why would anyone trade a pick for him? Especially looking at the second half of it, you can just get an undrafted guy that has a 0% chance to be worse than Gerhart?80 PurplePride 84 wrote: We could trade Gerhart and pick up a RB late in the draft or undrafted who could be at worst as good as him.

I like that Spielman didn't give up any picks for next year. The only thing that bothers me a little is I think New England called us and ran the trade. It's been widely reported NE wanted out of the pick and Spielman was pulled from the podium to go back in the warm room. That doesn't sound like the Vikings were in the driver's seat. I wonder if they would have settled for our late 4th but in the end the trade was decent by the "charts" and hopefully we got ourselves a playmaker.Mothman wrote:I like the fishing analogies!
