Maybe we can lobby the Vikings to not use that stupid bit of flair on the numbers. There's still some time before they take the field.

I think we're stuck with the matte finish helmets, like it or not. Many players in old photos of the team appeared to have a matte finish on their helmets. But I think that was simply because the equipment manager back then didn't replace decals weekly and then spend hours waxing and polishing the helmets.
Nevermind... I couldn't see the image on my phone.

Those look really nice!!!

They aren't bad at all. I think the "horns" on the numbers might have been trying a bit hard (I assume that was the idea). But I like the matte helmet. The purple is deeper. And it's a lot simpler. Good job by Nike not to tear the whole thing apart and try starting over.

I guess that's fine, but these uniforms are definitely not cool. And folks you can do more than have these boring #### vanilla unis or a wacky extreme Oregon/Jacksonville type.

These completely lack any creativity, effort, or thought at all, and it seems like they couldn't come up with anything good so they went the plain vanilla route and that sucks that we weren't worth the trouble. And don't go fooling yourselves into thinking they spent months on end with warehouses full of designers and somehow determined that the "classic" look was simply the best. The uniforms they are giving us is the basic prototype of a generic football uniform. I just hope they were their throwbacks for the entire 2013 season. And by throwback I mean 2006-2011!
You basically just repeated the same thing using multiple sentences. We get it. You don't like them.

Now that I think about, I agree. To say they are "okay," means they are typical and dull. I would have opted for something somewhat different. Different does not have to imply "radical." Leave the letter points, and add some dripping blood.

Glad they kept it simple. Not a fan of the purple away pants and I wish they used the old school larger horns but considering it was Nike, they could have done a lot worse.

That's an understatement. I'm still trying to picture some Nike 'creative' designer at a press conference in Pittsburgh when they reveal new uniforms (which in reality will only happen in someone's nightmare) going on about melding of the old and new, tradition and hope for the future. And seeing someone throw a brat and a beer and maybe a punch in his face.

Looks like a Vikings version of the Giants jerseys. Which is definitely not a bad thing, I like the simplicity. Conrrsidering Wilf is/was a Giants fan thats not a surprise.

Though I'm not too sure on the road unis yet, the plain purple numbers over white just seem to be missing something; plus I loved the old shoulder stripes of the road whites from the past. The purple pants will take getting used to, they unveiled purple pants for 2006 and then only used them for the first few games before making them a once in awhile alternate so we'll see if they stick with them this time.

Miles ahead of the current jerseys.

Well, at this point I don't like them. I don't care for the matte finish on the helmets and don't like the stripes on the sleeves. They are boring. The horns on the numbers are lame in my opinion.

I don't mind the side panels being gone and the stripe on the pants look ok from what I can tell.

It is hard to tell about the horn on the helmet yet, as it is hard to see.

What I would have liked is:
1. keep the helmet and colors the same as they are now
2. lose the side panels
3. lose the yellow collar
4. keep the yellow around the numbers
5. larger sleeve stripes (they don't have to be as big as the classics)
6. different stripes on pants
7. purple pants for away games

Just my humble opinion.

I find it kind of humorous that the fans have been crying for a more traditional look for years, and they go out and give us exactly that and there seems to be just as much backlash as support. I think these are great to be quite honest. I hate our recent jerseys and think these look sharp, classy and distinguished. Those that are complaining their boring I think would have a hard time accepting anything. Considering the 4 new uniforms changes since Nike's involvement, we've had the best change. I'm glad we didn't get the hideous Jacksonville "innovative" touch, cause quite frankly they look like they Arena League/XFL caliber jerseys. Seahawks are ok, but again far too involved. Miami's are solid as well, but even more plain then the Vikings (not that I have a problem with that, I would be happy as a Dolphins fan as well).

And the matte finish helmets are actually an upgrade. All dark colored teams should make that switch IMO

And for those wondering, here are the dolphins and Jags jerseys and the source image where the Vikings uni were leaked:

I don't think they're intended to be horns but I don't think they add much to the numbers either.

The stripes are a little boring and the uniform as a whole isn't among the best the Vikes have ever had. I would have liked to see a little more gold worked into it, perhaps in an outline around the numbers as they've done before and in accents on the socks.

I'm hoping the horns on the helmet aren't too small. Overall, I like this design. They've had better uniforms and lately, I think they've been wearing worse. So far, this looks like a step forward and considering some of the designs Nike has produced, a bit of a relief. :)

Which year is your favorite? And why? What elements would you have wanted to see incorporated?

1974 calls me if a completely new uniform won't happen now.

Addendum: As players get bigger, the uniforms/gear gets smaller. A lineman's shoulder pads now appear to be peewee football sized, with no jersey sleeves for grabbing.

The White were perfect with the shoulder stripes and the purple with the logo on the sleeves were fine. If they were gonna change anything than just change the home to the Tarkenton era.

At first glance in 2006, I thought the new unis were great (always preferred the white much more than the purple) but I got tired of them after a few years and longed for the old ones. I do still love the updated horn as much I loved the old one. 5-10 years from now the 06-12 unis will probably be known as the "Peterson ERA jerseys."

Original are the Tarkenton Era
Norseman on the sleeves are the Moss Era
06-12 are the Peterson era.

Here's what I think they shoulda went with, even though I do think the new ones are great:

I really like your design here. It's got the classic look (the vertical stripes on the white uniforms are the integral part of the away jersey) with good use of striping and solid colors. The only tweak I would make would be to make some sort of purple/gold pinstripe sock similar to what the Bears have. I think that would look great!

One of the best "throwback" redesigns I've seen in recent years has been Buffalo. They've incorporated the shoulder stripes, solid colors and pin stripes very well.

What is so wrong with the jerseys they have been using for the past few years? They took a minute to get used to, but I liked them just fine. By the looks of it, a lot of Vikings fans at the Dome liked them just fine too. :D

The throwback jerseys are the coolest--I think. With that being said, if going old school was their plan this time around, what is up with the pointy number things? It seems as if they went old school most of the way, and then just randomly threw the pointy numbers in there for their "creativity." It doesn't fit with the traditional/throwback style if you ask me. That's the issue, for me anyway.

Either way, the few of us who are LESS than impressed will get used to them. They aren't horrible; they just aren't that impressive. As far as those who are griping that people don't approve, that is laughable. So, people don't like them after a day and that's not okay...but most people don't like the jerseys we have been using for YEARS and that is somehow acceptable? Um, no. Not seeing the logic.
