How long have you been a "REAL" Viking fan?

Post by MV711 »

I've bled purple for all 4 Super Bowl losses as well as all failed NFC Championship games which we have participated in. Been a real and true Vike fan since 1967...Always have and always will be for better or worse.

Still waiting for our 1st SB Championship!!!!

Also, what will you guys do when /if the Vikings win a Super Bowl? My dad, a big fan since the early 1970s, said he would seriously break down in tears.

Ive been a "REAL" fan for about 5 years now.
When you're born, you get a ticket to the freak show. When you're born in America, you get a front row seat.

Since '98. But I've been a much more serious fan since probably '06-'07 ish. I've only missed a handful of games since then.

Man, am I going to raise HELL!!! I figure I'll probably race my wheelchair around the retirement home and chase a couple of the nurses. If I'm not so lucky, I'll try to roll over once or twice in my grave.

Since I was about 6 years old. I am 19 now and I used to be able to tell my dad the birthdays of players because of video games like madden I had them memorized I still remember that Daunte Culpeppers birthday is Janurary 27th

:smilevike: :v):
The term fan comes from FANatic or fanatical.

1972. When Fran was traded back to Minnesota I became a die-hard fan. That makes 42 years of thrills and ball-busting disappointments. I still watch them now and hope for a miracle. The loss in New Orleans in 2010 really put a dent in my loyalty. Luckily, I've been a Giant fan since 1971 as well. Far better luck with those guys. Gotta have a franchise quarterback to succeed in this league. Lets all hope Ponder is the guy. Eli is my guy.

You're two years ahead of me! I've been a fan since 1969 so I too have suffered through all those painful postseason losses. :(

1965 Was born into it. Grew up in Mankato, attended the camps. Suffered through 4 superbowl loses. 1975 hail mary. 1987, 1998, 2009, Etc... on and on. We now live in Chicago. We are blessed enough to have season tickets and have had them for 15 years. We drive 6 hours each way to watch the games. My wife and both of my daughters are also Viking fans. My wife out of tolerance, my daughters because that is what they were born into.

What will I do if the Vikings win the super bowl? I will probably shed some tears out of disbelief and relief because something we have hoped for so passionately all of my life has finally happened.

It's guys like you, me, Tark10 and Mothman who deserve medals for being die-hard fans for so many years. I guess we all hope they'll get a SB before we depart from this earth!!LOL

I may do the same. It will certainly be a big, cathartic moment.

Honestly, I don't know I'll even be able to handle it if they get to the Super Bowl. I'll be desperate to watch it and I'm sure I will but the levels of anxiety involved might literally kill me.

Since I was a little kid and knew what football was. Dad is a Vikings fan and we're in the area so naturally I am too.
