Well, when is he going to be a starter? It's going to be hard to do if the LB positions are solidified.
As far as the Alabama game and them being a "big team"--so are NFL teams.
So, it's okay if teams and players look bad in big games as long as they don't look that way overall?
Ahh. Of course y'all think that way, you are Vikings fans! You have no choice.
You just remember that if our little ol' quarterback decides to suck it up in a big game. "It's okay, because he did well throughout the season. He improved. He was a leader." I'll be saying that, but will you be?
Yeah but we are not talking about the NFL. We're talking about the one college game that has people doubting his ability. Bama players are huge compared to any other college team in football. And they are tough and hard hitters. Bama comes into every game with the goal of shutting down playmakers like Te'o and they did just that. I brought up size because I think the size may have not intimidated him but it definitely scared his teammates. No one got to the QB. Eddie Lacy running through the defense like it was nothing. Bama was a scary team to defend and still will be next season.
What about putting Greenway at MLB and drafting someone to fill his spot? I've heard PA and a couple others suggest that; doesn't seem like a bad idea to me, as it would alleviate a major need. Frazier doesn't seem to want to consider that though...

And for good reason, Greenway is a bit of a liability in coverage and I don't see him running down the deep middle portion of the field to defend tight ends. If anyone we have were to currently switch it might be Erin Henderson.

It'll never happen. PA must have forgotten that he asked Greenway about it in an interview a while back and Chad dismissed it pretty quickly. Either he doesn't see himself as an MLB or the team doesn't. Fine by me, he's perfectly suitable as an OLB so just keep him there. If it was earlier in his career then maybe consider it, but he's been in the league for six years now (seven if you count his lost rookie season) so he's pretty much set at what he does.
I wonder if Chicago is fretting over what the Vikings think of Te'o. Clearly Minnesota has better inside information than Chicago, but the Bears are three picks ahead and have to make a decision.
This isn't a game of Madden where you can just stick players in different positions and still expect them to perform at the same level. I don't think Greenway could cover that good as a MLB and he knows it too, which is why he refuses to switch at MLB. We can just draft a guy at MLB. There's a couple on the boards this year who can start right away if we drafted them.
I was at the KFAN booth a couple of times during the State Fair taking in PA's show; this subject was brought up once. IIRC, Leber was touting the idea favorably. Of course, if his interview with Chad preceded that time, it could be he wasn't completely agreeing with the verdict. I'm not able to tune in very often. I found a couple of sources bringing this up, to make sure I wasn't completely crazy
Obviously, Erin [Henderson] has experience at that position, so that’s something you could think about doing as well. If they want to move me there, I don’t know. I’m open to whatever, but I’m not sure that’s what they’re thinking. But I do know that if it’s a young guy who ends up starting there, it can work. Every position at some point you have to go young. So it’s a normal process that takes place.
Here, Mark Craig suggests a situational transition, albeit with some caveats:
Mark Craig wrote:The Vikings should consider moving Greenway to the deep middle backer position in the nickel, a key spot on the field in passing situations. He has the range and intelligence to play it. He also has the experience because he plays that spot in the dime. Of course, moving Greenway to the middle in the nickel would require finding someone to play Greenway’s current position in that defense. Not easy.
All that said, I did find the recent PP article quoting Frazier as saying that would not be happening. I wouldn't mind Te’o bring drafted, but I agree Arthur Brown would be good too...it also wouldn't surprise me if they wait and take a guy in the middle rounds. I've seen speculation that the Bears would take Te’o, but the latest BR mock draft predicts they'll take Kevin Minter. These guessing games are always fun!
