If him (Webb) Ponder and Jennings get together and start working now that could be a huge help to him. He'd be able to learn from a decent/good receiver and build chemistry with his quarterback. I don't see Webb ever being a #1 or #2 receiver but I wouldn't be mad if he turned out to be a play maker.

I can see Webb being used as the split back, wideout, end around, double reverse, post pattern, outlet, check down relief valve man when all the chips are on the table but other than that i dont know.

He should have been there in 2010. This is a move (should it happen) that is three years too late.

Agreed. Unfortunately he showed too good of an arm. I'd be VERY curious what position he would've played if Frazier/Musgrave were "in charge" instead of Childress. Safe to say I have little optimism this ends up succeeding.

Well yeah, but my larger point is that he could have been three years along at the WR position by now. That means he would have received solid coaching from George Stewart and he could maybe run a few routes by now. :)

If Webb really is being moved to QB, then I completely agree with your assessment. MBT or a rookie is much preferred at the third QB spot at this point.

Um, you have something to back up that he couldn't run the routes? Because I don't remember him actually ever playing or practicing WR except for a few plays. As a note, Percy Harvin was supposedly a bad route runner as well. And since I don't have a play book, I couldn't tell you if he ran the correct route or not.

He played some WR in college his sophomore year.

30 catches for 459 yards and 3 touchdowns.

He also had another receiving TD somewhere in his junior and senior year.

I really like Webb, very passionate player. Nothing but the best for him working as a WR, he might surprise us, who knows!
Whenever i step outside, somebody claims to see the light
It seems to me that all of us have lost our patience.
'cause everyone thinks they're right,
And nobody thinks that there just might
Be more than one road to our final destination--

Interesting. See I thought they only had him practicing at Qb for the last 3 years. So what those beat writers are saying, is that he has been working on being a WR while we weren't looking? After all, that's the only way they could know. Being at the practices that we don't get to see. So all this time, when writing about Webb as a QB they never once mentioned him practicing as a WR. Here I thought he was playing QB on the scout team.
Joe Webb has spent each week this year preparing as if he would be the Vikings' starting quarterback. But for the first 13 games of his rookie season, Webb went through the exercise knowing he had no shot of being under center.

Last season, the Minnesota Vikings played QB Joe Webb at a variety of positions, but heading into 2012, the Vikings plan on keeping Webb only at the quarterback position. Webb, a highly athletic football player, has been utilized as a reciver and the team’s wildcat quarterback but the team plans to head into the regular season with Webb concentrating soley on being Christian Ponder’s backup.
He was given a chance before at WR and looked worse then terrible. No reason it's going to be any different now. Should have just cut him.

Even if Webb does not turn out to be a half way decent WR, what else could you complain about with him being drafted at 199 in the draft? After all, there were 25 WR's drafted before him and I'm sure they are not all super stars.

Basically, this story went from the Vikings officially stating that they were open to moving Webb around, through a few journalists, and now it's apparently a done deal.

It is the most sensible thing Frazier can do with Webb, but at the same time, it looks like some journalists have decided that decisions have been made that haven't been made yet.

I am beginning to wonder if Webb doesn't have some dirty laundry on Fraizer, Spielman, or someone else. I cannot think of another reason he hasn't been cut. This guy, needs to go. Don't get me wrong I loved him, and think he is a stand up guy and wish him all the luck in the world but even if we have 90 roster spots, does anyone really think he is better than ANYONE else in the league, out of the league, or coming into the league we could get at the WR or QB position?

Yes, but that since you opened the door as wide as "anyone", that's not saying much. :)

I think he has enough athletic ability to deserve one last shot to prove himself at another position and with 90 roster spots available for training camp, I see no harm in giving him that shot. Unless he really impresses and clearly earns a place on the team, he should be cut and honestly, he probably should have been cut already. However, I get the impression they just like him and, as Frazier said, they want to make sure they’re doing the right thing by him (and the team).
