Thanks. The OP has has been updated.

In a deal like this, if Mitchell were cut before the first game,

a) what would be the Vikings total $ expenditure? Only the signing and roster bonuses? The unguaranteed base salary is only paid for weeks on the roster during the regular season, correct?

a) what would be his cap hit for 2013? Would it be only the $50K, or would they also be hit for the veteran benefit they received?

My apologies but I'm not getting the relevance in the "15 months" part or even the injuries at this point.

Bottom line, we are talking about Greg Jennings versus Michael Jenkins in overall production, right? Given that and hopefully only that, it's easy to see why the Vikings did what they did.

I just thought someone was calling Jenkins an "old man". If he's an old man, then Jennings is an old man with bad knees. But apparently it was some kind of inside joke.

We'll see what Jennings' production looks like this year with CP throwing him the pig and the Vikings operating a run-first offense. If he's lucky (and the Vikings unlucky), he'll be like Percy last year and be the only option at WR and get the bulk of the passing calls.

#Vikings now sit $4.413M under their adjusted cap of $129.793M. The adjustment took away $504K from every team.

A.J. Jefferson - DB - Vikings

Vikings re-signed CB A.J. Jefferson to a one-year, $1.32 million deal.

A restricted free agent, Jefferson was tendered at the original-round level. Injuries in the Vikings' secondary forced Jefferson to play 599 snaps and make seven starts last season, but he struggled mightily in coverage. He'll begin the year as a reserve.

The news clip is right, Jefferson was not a fun player to watch last season. I hope Brandon Burton gets a shot. I have always wondered what he could do.

This is good--and possibly bad. Wonder what that means for Winfield? I'm sure we'll know soon--whenever Grandpa Antoine decides. Lol.

You have the BEST quote by the way. That's pretty much how I feel about it. :)

Probably means nothing either way for Winny. Vikings gave Jefferson that tender before FA started so that was already on the table.

NFL.com's Albert Breer later reported Winfield's contract is for one year, according to a Seahawks source.
A time-honored Viking tradition. Play one last year for another team before retiring.

Troy Kropog - T - Vikings

Vikings re-signed exclusive rights free agent T/G Troy Kropog to a one-year, $630,000 contract.

Kropog, 27 in July, appeared in one game last season for the Titans. He was then released and signed to the Vikings practice squad before earning a promotion in early December. Kropog was a weekly inactive down the stretch.

Another Cover 2 corner. He was ok in Indy. He has a shot to beat out A.J. Jefferson, which I would be fine with.

It would not shock me if all 3 go. I could see them keeping Cook, Rhodes, JRob, Lacey and Felder.

Then again Lacey could be another Carr/Bowman and completely flop in camp. I wonder if they'll keep an extra CB this year instead of that 5th Safety (Sendejo).
Out of curiosity, what other decent punt returners do they have? Can Patterson do that? Then I could see Sherels being let go.
