I think you just hit the nail on the head, for as completely of a player Percy is, his attitude related actions off the field equate to him not being worth the trouble.
Hopefully with all of the guidance offered for draftees, the current crop will be persuaded even more so to take the right path.

I pretty much agree, but I've seen a fair amount of Patterson actually playing full games and I do want to add one thing. The guy is no slouch. I mean, if he miraculously falls to the Vikings and they pick him in R1, I'm completely fine with that.
Here's the deal. While Patterson will definitely need work on his technique, one of the things that everyone likes about him is his learning curve. Patterson was thrust into a situation where he and Justin Hunter sometimes had to carry Tennessee's offense - and they did. I mean, he was kind of learning in a trial by fire situation. Just something to consider.

Patterson would be a no-brainer pick should he somehow fall to the Vikings, which I highly doubt is going to happen at this point. As you pointed out Craig, Patterson has had exactly one year of experience at the Division 1 level and he was arguably the best player on Tennessee's entire offense. It's hard to see how he can't improve on that once he gets pro coaching and into a pro strength and conditioning program. The guy should be able to continue to develop as a receiver, and while that can be taught, you can't teach the field vision and explosion Patterson shows when he has the ball.
If the Vikings were to trade up for a WR, I wouldn't do it for Austin, but I would be OK if they did it for Patterson.
Patterson and Hunter would be nice. They worked well together in TN and would be great for Ponder here. I think hunter will be there in R2. No idea about Patterson, but if the Vikes do go WR, they would be best off picking him. We are good on slot guys for now.
Patterson, Woods, or Dobson should be a Minnesota VIking next year. we have the second best TE (IMO just slow), jennings in the slot, wright can be whatever. Jerome, eh, we have him. We need a TALL semi-blazer on the outside, there's no Moss in this draft, but the idea is the same: tall, good hands, outjump guys. Thats what Ponder needs. look what AJ Green has done for Dalton

drop Woods and add Hunter and i agree. Woods isnt going to out jump or outrun anybody. He's a bonafide #2 WR who would benefit from a Larry Fitzgerald or Andre Johnson across from him

One WR that I think people should watch who gets a little undervalued is Markus Wheaton. This kid is Mike Wallace, but I think tougher and a better route runner then Wallace was coming out of college.

He's definitely not big, and does get overwhelmed a bit by physical corners. But he's willing to take them on and try hard, same deal in blocking. His frame is very DeSean Jackson-esque though, you're right about that. He's not really a YAC guy, but his quickness, speed, precision, and ability to make tough grabs is what I really live about the kid. Not to mention he seems to be a really humble and hardworking kid. If he's sitting there in the 3rd round I would snatch him, even if we've taken a WR earlier. And I wouldn't even been upset if we took him in the 2nd.

Good call, man. I really like what I saw from Wheaton. Another on the radar guy that I wouldn't be disappointed if Minnesota grabbed. Again, it's another testament to the depth of this draft.
Only knock once again is that he's primarily going to be utilized in the slot and that he's pretty much the same guy as Jarius Wright. Too much of a good thing don't bother me none, though.

I don't think he (or Wright for that matter) are limited to the slot. With Jennings/Wright and Wheaton we'd have a trio of WRs that I think could play any position at given time, depending on the matchups we have in mind
Definitely not limited to the slot, but I think with someone like Ponder as our Q, I'd rather at least one guy who can make a play on ball that doesn't have to be thrown in a tight window, which from the outside, is the problem they may run into more than a few times.

I agree that Wright isn't purely a slot guy. However, he may the most effective out of the slot. I would love it somehow we draft Cordarrelle Patterson, Tavon Austin, Kennan Allen, DeAndre Hopkins, or Robert Woods.
