Well I have seen multiple fans from sites including this one saying that Audie Cole should get a chance to compete for the starting MLB spot. Only because of those 2 INts he caught during the preseason, I have a feeling that most fans believe he is good enough to start.Mothman wrote: Is there a big buzz about Audie Cole?

I think there's a small-but-vocal percentage of fans who want to see him start but I'd be surprised (and disappointed) if it's a majority view. I have no problem with Cole getting a chance to compete for the starting job in camp but he's looked more like backup material so far so I doubt he'd earn the starting job.JEC334 wrote:Well I have seen multiple fans from sites including this one saying that Audie Cole should get a chance to compete for the starting MLB spot. Whenever a backup player "flashes" in the preseason or in a spot duty, there are always fans who make too much of it and think that guy is a star in waiting. heck, there are still people who se:)

Jasper Brinkley showed little to nothing at any point and was given a pretty lengthy period of time to flop around like a fish. Cole showed more instincts in coverage in one preseason game then Brinkley showed in over a couple dozen games, preseason and otherwise.
And at this point the alternative is to force a pick on a MLB because we have no bodies worth playing the position. If it's give Cole a chance, or draft a guy just to draft a guy, I'd rather give Cole a shot! If they have someone in the draft they think can hold down the position fine, but drafting a head case like Ogletree or a guy who doesn't fit the system like Teo because we need a MLb? Again no thanks!

This sounded so reasonable, that I had to check the author a couple times because I couldn't believe my eyes. Sorry Demi!Demi wrote:Jasper Brinkley showed little to nothing at any point and was given a pretty lengthy period of time to flop around like a fish. But you hit the nail on the head here. Let's not force a bad draft choice because we feel we have a need at MLB. I'd rather get a couple late round, hungry, small school prospects than a guy who is overhyped and will be just happy to claim his signing bonus.
