Well, not just to pick up another second round pick (that obviously wouldn't make sense) but if they received a good offer to trade down from #25 into the top half of the second round and picked up some additional picks in the deal, I could definitely see them doing it if they thought the draft "landscape" at that point left them in a favorable position. It might just depend on the deal and on how many quality players remained at positions they wanted to draft.

Spielman has been very willing to make trades up or down on draft day so I think a trade in either direction is a possibility, although it wouldn't surprise if they just stayed put and made their selections either.

The Chiefs are expected to sign free agent G/T Geoff Schwartz.

Schwartz was a 16-game starter in 2010 for the Panthers, but missed all of 2011 due to hip surgery and then lost his 2012 starting job with the Vikings to Brandon Fusco. Still, he's just 26 years old, can play multiple positions on the line and handles himself well in the running game. It's another quality move from the new Andy Reid regime.

not real happy about this. I thought he was a valuable part along the line.

Last I heard he's still there.

I think we'll jsut have to trust the coaches on that one. They've been pretty good overall on improving the OL. If they let him go they must of had their reasons.

Reason - he signed else where before we were done with the Greg jennings situation. :(

If we truly love Fusco that much, surely he's still better than CJ...

No, Schwartz had said that he didn't want to come back unless he was going to start. I think that like many observers, he couldn't figure out why he wasn't starting over Fusco. I doubt that the Vikings ever had much chance of signing him, and probably didn't try very hard. We'll see what kind of contract KC gave him, but I'm betting it's far more than the Vikings would have offered.

Actually, he'll probably catch 70 passes for them. Funny how that works.

That is a solid take. IMO, Davidson has done a very good job in improving this group, so I'm inclined to just trust him. OL is a very different than other positions in that it is a team within a team and needs time to "gel" and all of that. Lots of personality and trust stuff has to be right for them to really function at an elite level. Davidson knows this stuff so there is most likely a reason they are rolling with these guys.

On a similar note, I think the JS resigning was in a similar vein. The coaching staff and locker room seemed very comfrotable with JS as a person, enough that they were willing to give him another go.

Time will tell in both cases, but I think there is a reasonable angle for both signings.

Greg Jennings is just 15 months younger than "Old Man" Jenkins, and Jennings has had many more injuries in his career.

Jeez, I mean no disrespect by it. It is an inside joke between me and a bunch of my friends. I guess in hindsight my comment is ambiguous.

Marvin Mitchell took a minimum salary benefit deal from #Vikings, per source. $25K to sign, $25K roster bonus, base $765K, cap # only $605K. That keeps #Vikings right around $5M under their adjusted salary cap.
Life of a player on the NFL fringe: that makes eight contracts in seven years for Mitchell. The last three have been vet benefit deals.
