An Idea For a Trade
This is just an idea, and I want your guys' take on it. There could be other players involved in the trade, but im just going to list the couple main players.
We give: Harvin. I am not in the club of giving Harvin away, but many of you guys on here want him gone.
We recieve: Kirk Cousins. This guy is a great young QB with a lot of potential. A lot of you guys want us to get someone to compete with ponder, so I thought this guy would be a good man for that job.
I am not implying that I really like this trade. I've based this trade off of what I've read from you guys. Tell me what you think.

Re: An Idea For a Trade
Won't happen. Cousins will be with DC for 2-3 as a viable backup - they might trade him for a first round pick down the road, but that's it.
A successful coach needs a patient wife, loyal dog, and great quarterback - and not necessarily in that order.

No trade. Pay Harvin good money and keep him.
The Vikings are fortunate to have both Harvin and Peterson, which is why I believe they will definitely retain him.

I agree exactly with both of your points. Thanks for sharing your thoughts.

the redskins would be foolish to trade cousin's. but going along with the question, IF we did have to trade harvin. i wouldnt mind that at all
Re: An Idea For a Trade
Speaking of Cousins... RG3 is out of the game against Seattle with a knee injury. Having a good backup is kind of a big deal.

True, but I sometimes think since Cousins is so good that they could trade for someone that would actually start.soflavike wrote:Speaking of Cousins... RG3 is out of the game against Seattle with a knee injury. Having a good backup is kind of a big deal.

I'm sure the brain trust still believes Ponder will pan out. Heck they'd probably take Ponder over Cousins. So no way that happens. We'll get a pick or two for Percy and love it!!!

Re: An Idea For a Trade
I've got a better trade idea. Harvin and a first for Larry Fitzgerald.
You'd think Arizona would consider that deal because they get pretty good value. Id even be willing to throw in more to make it work.
From the Vikings standpoint its a no brainer. Fitz would be a perfect fit in Purple and Gold.

Wow, I'm surprised how many of you don't mind this trade! Trading away a proven commodity for a rookie qb who had a few decent games?! Keep in mind cousins was considered to have a very low ceiling coming out of college, viewed as a solid backup. Oh so quickly we forget harvin being an MVP candidate. IMO we'd be hosed in that trade

Re: An Idea For a Trade
A mid round compensatory next year, or trade him this year for a second rounder, maybe even include our first round pick for a top 5 first round pick. This is the Vikings so we will most likely retain a receiver with a chip on his shoulder, and watch him hold out.
Re: An Idea For a Trade
Yeah, but this is the first time Spielman has been the lone personnel decision maker. Hopefully, he can accurately assess the situation with Harvin and won't paint the team into a corner. I agree, a second rounder in a preemptive trade sounds a lot better than another year of PH's services while the team is in rebuilding mode, plus a mid round compensatory pick the following year.joe h wrote:A mid round compensatory next year, or trade him this year for a second rounder, maybe even include our first round pick for a top 5 first round pick. Terrible trade for the Vikings. Even if Harvin wants out, this is a bad idea. Why give up a guy who was in the MVP discussion and entering the prime of his career for a *backup* QB?Dark wrote:This is just an idea, and I want your guys' take on it. Or give up the same for a 30 year old with a massive contract (*and* a 1st rounder by some proposals)?
If Spielman were to do either he should be canned immediately. Harvin is worth a high 1st rounder and nothing less. If he wants out that is one thing, or if Frazier determines he just can't work with the guy that is another and maybe forces Spielman to go fishing, but if I'm the Vikes I make it very clear that the asking price for Percy is high.
