Jennings Auditioning ?

Post by Lash Man »

I saw this on another site but it sure seemed like Jennings was awful friendly with AD after the game and he sure is letting it be known he isnt happy in pacurland . I think he would help us immediately if he signed at a fair price !

How has he let it known he isn't happy? I know he said this:

"If it was just my decision, my decision only, absolutely I would be here in a heartbeat," Jennings said. "Wouldn't want to leave at all, but obviously it's two sides, so the Packers are gonna do what's best for them and hopefully I'm what's best. But, if not, then I have 31 other teams that hopefully I can show them my résumé and then walk into the door and start back over."

He did voice displeasure if being slapped with the franchise tag. Maybe that's what you're referring to? Yes. ... Nothing good about it," Jennings said. "You don’t see Wes Welker smiling about it."

I'm sure he'd be thrilled to stay in Green Bay, provided they paid him. However Green Bay does have a lot of contracts to negotiate coming up so he might be expendable. Problem is, he'll be 30 next year. I think it's unlikely we come out on top of a bidding war but there's no denying his talent and how desperate we are for a receiver of his caliber. At this point I wouldn't complain about any one of Bowe, Wallace or Jennings (if the price is right, which it won't be).

He's on the wrong side of 30 for my tastes and I think it's unlikely we come out on top of a bidding war but there's no denying his talent and how desperate we are for a receiver of his caliber. I have heard different stories than those out of him saying he doubts he will be back in GB , when a player does that its usually a sign hes on his way out .

Not sure if he is or not but he doesn't fit the mold the Vikings are going after. Hopefully the team keeps a "rebuilding" mentality even as they've had a good season. They've got a lot of holes and I would rather them be filled with rookies (especially after last year's draft!) rather than vets that are quickly approaching "over the hill" status.

Jennings can still play but he's best in the slot. Presently the Vikings already have both Harvin and Wright, and both often play slot receiver in the packages.

Personally, I think Harvin gets his contract extension and Wright continues to develop, which means the Viking should probably look for an outside WR. OTOH, Wright is proving that he can play both in the slot and outside. But even so, I still prefer Harvin over Jennings.

I was watching the pregame last night and one of the reporters said they interviewed Jennings and it sounded like he was leaving the packers. I would be absolutely ecstatic if he came here.
