I mentioned it in another thread that it looks like something clicked for him a little.. Jim responded it, maybe he remembers it... anyway, since then I don't think he has thrown an INT. He looks different. Not QB of the future different, but much more confident. Maybe he learned sometihng about himself or something... Will he be the answer? Time will tell, and I a m certainly not ready to annoint him anything, but for some reason, something looks different about him lately.
I remember the play you're talking about. It was in the second half against Chicago (in MN) so you're right, he hasn't thrown a pick since that point. his last pick was late in the first half of that game, when he under-threw Wright.
Ponder's playing like the efficient game manager they're asking him to be and they're winning, so that's good. I think he's shown that he's not likely to become franchise QB material but they can win with him if he plays to his potential, limits mistakes and makes the kind of key plays he has the last few weeks.
What an amazing win. I was really happy to our offense sustain some good drives again this week. Ponder has picked up his game and has done his part these last two weeks to help our team to victory. I was really pleased that our receivers seemed to get more separation and watched Ponder make some good throws as they were coming out of their breaks. It appears that he is starting to "get it." Whether it sticks remains to be seen
9-6? I don't think many of us expected this. I was happy with 6 wins! If we lose next week I'll be disappointed, but not down on this team. We have far surpassed my expectations this year and with one more decent draft and a good free agent pick up or two we are well on our way to being contenders!

If they win the turnover battle along with it, I agree 100%. However, TOP is very much a team stat, not an offensive or defensive stat, and to finish with a distinct edge in TOP requires a good performance from both the offense and the defense.
Well, the stats sure do back that up, Jim. As I just said in another post, Tom Pelissero pointed out that the Vikings are 9-0 this season when they've won the turnover battle and 0-6 when they haven't. I didn't know it was that big of a difference.

It's amazing, isn't it? If they just take care of the ball and force the other team to make a mistake or two, they seem good enough to win. However, their own margin for error is obviously pretty slim.

blair walsh has been CRUCIAL to the vikings success this season. you can make the argument that he played the biggest part in at least 2 wins this season. his first FG today was a pivotal point in the game. 56 yarder. with a miss, the texans would have had the ball at midfield. this may turn out to be one of the biggest draft steals in viking's history.
What's crazy is when they showed the replay on Fox how easily he made it from that distance. That thing would have been good from 65+.
And can Jenkins get some love? Lets face it the guy may not be the greatest but he shows up and catches the football. He took a big paycut to stay on the team and while he may only be a #3 WR on another team, he's stepped up a lot since Percy has gone down. I'd rather see Jenkins on the roster than Simpson next year to be honest. I'm tired of Simpson dropping those slant route passes.

Yeah Craig I am a big fan of success and attitude breeding success and attitude. Watching AD work his arse off has definitely affected (lifted) the OL IMO. It took awhile to catch on but here we are. While I have not thought Ponder's performance has lit the world on fire this season, his "unflappability" along with AD doing his part has I think make the WR's feel like they'd better start pulling their own weight around this place.
All good signs, and I will be very interested to see how it all pans out against GB at home. Another big game and a win would do wonders for this team. IMHO.
You nailed it
Do not mistake KINDNESS for WEAKNESS!
Best to keep your mouth shut and be thought a fool rather than open it and remove all doubt.
One of the things I noticed was that it felt like the WR's were running better routes and specifically doing a better job of being there on time. It felt like the synergy between them and Ponder was a lot better. Granted Simpson didn't get enough depth on one of his 3rd down plays and didn't pick up the first. Overall I thought they looked much much better than in the past and much more in sync.

More than made up for it by coming down with a Christian Ponder attempt at throwing the ball away.
Sometimes when they cut the route off short like that I wonder if it might have to do with coverage or the timing of the route? Don't remember the play exactly though.

If the ownership is really serious about taking this team to the top they HAVE TO make changes at QB and HC next season... This season is DONE AND DUSTED...
(No - That's not the Vikings I'm talking about - That's a direct quote from the Texans board about their team ) There is also a mention in there about Ponder being a mediocre QB looking like Joe Montana...
I've told people a million times not to exaggerate!
There is also a post saying that they prefer romo or vick over Matt... and that tebow would be a better QB... Geeze, and I thought that you guys were bad.

LOL! It's interesting to see how the game looked from another perspective, even if it's an over-the-top viewpoint.

I'm not sure I'm ready to give him love. But I will say this -- when compared to Simpson, Jenkins is like the short stop with lousy range and relatively sure hands, and Simpson is like the guy with great range but who periodically boots easy grounders. Those latter guys are the ones who especially drive you nuts.
