The problem is who he has on the schedule. And I'm not referring to the Packers; I'm talking about the Texans. They are tough.Orion wrote:AD now needs 294 yards or 147 yards per game to beat the record.

To be fair though, so were the Rams and you cant have any more motivation to Win then the Rams did today.

Re: Forget 2K ... does AP break the record?
I'll say AD has an excellent chance of breaking the record if he can ring up around 130 in Houston, because I'd expect him to get around 180-200 at home against the Packers in the finale.
Hard to believe we're even talking about this a year after that injury...

I didnt think he had a chance at the record until today. My feeling is if he has under 200 to go when the packs come he'll get it because it would be insane on the part of the coaching staff not to run him wild in that with 30 or more attempts

And you all thought I was nuts for starting this thread.
AP now needs 147 ypg game to get the record.
That would be 17 ypg LESS than he's averaged over his incredible 8-game run.
Eric Dickerson doesn't want his record broken. I'd say he'd better get AP drunk the night before the Packers game. And that might not even work.

Go ahead. I dare you.
Underestimate this man.
Re: Forget 2K ... does AP break the record?
I think he has a reasonable chance of doing it. He has really turned on his game in the second half of the season, and judging by this game, I think he can do it. Hell, rams were 12th against the run, and he still lit em' up. Texans are 8th against the run, so I say he gets about 100-125 against them, and the Packers are 18th against the run, so I say he gets about 170-200 there, just barely breaking the record.Orion wrote:AD now needs 294 yards or 147 yards per game to beat the record.

I'd like to change my vote lol.
His single game high is 296 so ofc he can do it. Even if Houston shuts him down next week I could see him shredding the Packers in the final game. How bout setting the single game record by going over 300 and breaking the single season record all in the same game?
He only needs to average 94 to break 2000. It'll be a colossal failure if we don't at least get him to that milestone now.

And the Packers aernt good agasint the run, and their secondary is. ound that ball, play action, and give AD the credit he deserves.
Re: Forget 2K ... does AP break the record?
I think if he even gets 100 against houston he can do it. Guy is mega determined with perfect genetics to be a RB. With that said he can't do it all on his own but that's the kicker. The blocking and especially Felton have been giving him the daylight.
That's the absolutely scary thing about this, he's unstoppable in every sense of the meaning these last few games. By all means the Rams TRIED to stop him, they even managed to hold him to negative yardage for like 4-5 carries. Then he got 212, unbelievable.

If he breaks the record but the Vikings don't make the playoffs, I still can't see him not getting MVP.

Yes, esp. with a Manning.Orion wrote:If he breaks the record but the Vikings don't make the playoffs, I still can't see him not getting MVP.
Re: Forget 2K ... does AP break the record?
I think he meant he'll get MVP if he breaks the record. And he should. He should get it either way. Broncos made the playoffs with Tebow last year. Vikings wouldn't have half as many wins without Peterson.PurpleKoolaid wrote: Yes, esp. with a Manning.

MVP?
Unlikely. He can break the record by 300 yards. If the Vikings don't make the playoffs, their running back won't win the MVP.

Peterson should be mvp; he's the best player in the league and the vikings may be winless without him; his 82 yard run today totally changed the complexion of the game cause the Rams pretty much tanked after that; there's no player more important to his team than AD
Re: Forget 2K ... does AP break the record?
That would make him team MVP. Doesn't mean much toward NFL MVP.Soonerfan65 wrote:the vikings may be winless without him
