I think the question becomes, if Simpson was behind the sticks instead of in front of him, what would the pass have looked like. If you call a 10 yard come back and the WR only runs 8 yards and the QB throws a 10 yard come back, it's going to look like he made a bad throw when in actuality he threw the route called

Keep in mind just how little Peterson physically did. He allowed Ponder to pass against 8 in the box but outside of the bomb run, he didn't do squat. We'd win this game without that Peterson run, I think.
