No they won't. What in the history of this team, especially the recent history, makes you think they will try to replace Ponder? There is no way they will do that, IMO.
The Devil whispered in the Viking's ear, "There's a storm coming." The Viking replied, "I am the storm." ‪#‎SKOL2018

Besides, who is there to draft? There is no qb's to draft this coming year. Even if we did, we would be using a pick that we could use on a WR.

Only time will tell but I'm not sure I see your point about history.

Boon wrote:Henry Lake on Kfan made a good point after the game. He basically said out of all the NFL teams, there's only like 3 total that you can look at and go wow, this QB is beyond blessed. He mentioned the Falcons, Giants, and Steelers in that category. And the rest are running what is basically either a solid #1 with average to below average sidekicks, or just average across the board. There are teams that have less than what we do and make it work. One good point he made lol, was mannings first td today was to a defensive lineman. He was all worked up too talking about it. It was pretty funny. That we cant get a ball to a wideout for 3 quarters and the majority of the 4th but PM can throw one to a defensive tackle. He mentioned Brady too, like how through the years the pats have had a less than excellent wideout crew. Look at what happened when Brady got Moss, but also look at how he plays without a wide receiver of Moss's caliber in his prime. They have two very good tight ends, and one good wideout who's a SLOT guy, and other than that, they don't have a big megatron type wideout like everyone claims you need, but the #### consistently throws at or around 5k yards a season with no running game.Even Brees, no running game and EVERY receiver he has would be considered a #2 or worse on most teams.

As long as Ponder is behind center this will continue to snowball and my worst fear is we're gonna end up losing Harvin because of the incompetents running this team and that idiot throwing the ball. With teams stacking 9 in the box all game this clown can't complete a pass to save his life.
Very good post. I agree 100%. Some teams can have #### for WR's, but yet they are one of the most succesful teams in the nfl. Thats why you need a franchise quarterback, or else your team implodes on itself.

At least we aernt the Eagles. I sure hope the front office isnt dumb enough to take an players (QB) or coaches from that train wreck.

Another example is Peyton manning on the colts. When he went out, they went 1-15. Thats how much a qb can mean to a team

One thing no one mention is how the refs screwed us once again and Fraizer did nothing. Well i have mentioned it. But the refs royally screwed us again. With the 5 yards they just gave the packers by the wrong spot, the penalty on Grefin for the late hit, which wasnt, when JA has the INT. There were 5 no calls on holding at least. Another terrible PI calls, and then we get called for a much less PI call. Its amazing.

They'd be out of the playoffs, which is exactly where they'll finish with him. A wasted talent if there ever was one.

Jenkins, DA and Simpson are depth guys on good teams. Jenkins time as an NFL player is probably coming to end, if we cut him he might not get signed. Wright is still young. Burton is basically a blocking TE in a WR body  he's practice squad caliber at best.

With Harvin out of the lineup we are as bad or worse as the 06 clan of Travis Taylor, Troy Williamson, Marcus Robinson and Billy McMullen. But even Robinson (before Baldylocks cut him on Christmas) and Taylor put up somewhat respectable numbers on that awful team with Johnson, Bollinger and T-Jack at QB.
I saw both Wright and Simpson open multiple times. But happy feet is moving if his first read is covered. Period. Nothing devolopes so we have no idea. Not even Troy, who I cant stand doing games. Hes a Cowboy homer who knows less about announcing football then Buck if thats possible. No, none of our receivers are going to be wide open all the time like AD was. But there is seperation for a QB to fit one in. Just cause we dont have elite WRs doesnt mean Ponder cant complete some passes to all of them. And do you really trust Spielman picking others? He knows less about it then we do. I saw Rg3 and Luck fit some passes into covered guys. Even Batch. This is not a WR problem. Its a QB and OC problem. We have AD for crying out loud. just because Troy says theres no seperation doesnt make it so.

I completely agree but at the same time we are working with a Number 2 wide receiver and the others shouldnt be playing on a football team. I do think you can trust Spielman. In his first year as a General Manager we took 4 Starting players from the draft 2 of which could potentially be in this coming pro bowl. I wonder what the team would look like if we had a fully healthy Greg Childs lining up outside its sad to know what we could have had out there, but its highly likely he wont ever play football again.
The term fan comes from FANatic or fanatical.

A good summary of yesterday's QB situation from Jim Souhan:

http://www.startribune.com/sports/vikin ... 72921.html
Frazier didn't need to bench Ponder in perpetuity. He just needed to give his team a chance. Joe Webb might not be the long-term answer at quarterback, but he might have helped the Vikings beat the Packers on Sunday, and Ponder's teammates deserved to play with the guy who gave them the best chance on Sunday.

CalVike wrote: No one could have predicted the QB that led them to 5-2 would lose all confidence in a fast fade to 6-6.
Actually, a lot of us did. In fact, this fade was being predicted back in October. The writing was on the wall for anyone that wasn't wearing purple shades.

In fact, here's what I said on October 18, when the Vikings were 4-2:
Per DVOA, the Vikings have played the 32nd most difficult schedule in the league so far. However, the remaining games on the schedule reflect the 2nd most difficult schedule in the NFL. A regression seems reasonable, if not likely.

http://www.vikingsmessageboard.com/view ... =1&t=24978
Then here's what I said on October 26, when the Vikings were 5-3:
Defenses have a year of tape on him now. I like to call this the "Derek Anderson Effect."

http://www.vikingsmessageboard.com/view ... =1&t=25065
This slide was actually extremely predictable -- so predictable, in fact, that dumb fans like me on the internet were even able to see it.

Not to mention that the fans who pay money to watch the team deserve a competitive effort.

That's a good point regarding Ponder but in terms of the team, I think fans saw a competitive effort yesterday. The Vikes weren't blown out. They were within 6 at the start of the 4th quarter and they even led the game for a while.
