Give Bummy McBumBum more shots, or trot a glorified receiver out there. Boy, sure am glad Childress is gone so we can fix the quarterback position!
He was raw but he went out there and won a couple of games and almost completed an epic comeback against Detroit (remember the facemask that wasn't called on the final play?). He made some nice throws and some clutch plays and he also made some dumb throws (against Chicago, mostly). The kid has a certain winning instinct, I'm rooting for him.

I'm also hoping he's improved as a passer over the past couple of years of practice. He certainly has the wheels to make plays on the ground and that demands special attention from defenses. I'm not expecting Steve Young or John Elway out of the kid, but he has to be a step up from the scarecrow we have now. If he sucks, we know we need to get rid of him, too.

The throw that was most illustrative of Ponder's incompetence today?

That long throw to AD. AD had several steps on the defender, Ponder had time to get set and throw w/ a clear line of vision, and he just sucked balls. He hit the defender in the back, under-throwing the ball by 6-7 yards. There's HS players that could have made that throw.

So, you don't even want to give him a shot to prove his worth in a real game situation? I'm pretty sure that Ponder is not a suitable QB... I don't need to see any more of his play.
this is exactly what i am saying! everybody has decided he cant qb! decision made without a trial. guilty till proven innocent without the chance to show proof!
You realize we have seen him play QB in the NFL before right? And he looked even more lost than Ponder. Same lack of accuracy. no touch. No ability to read defenses. They tried moving him back to receiver AFTER giving him a shot at QB.

yes. but he was put in when the offensive line was struggling. not even farve could do well with that oL. the offensive line is better now and i think if he is given a chance now, we will see improvement.

Wrong Webb has looked very good at times, only he can throw it down field.

The difference is Webb can make all the throws ponder does and more. Also when he gets out of the pocket and runs he is a threat to score not just get the FD.

He should have been put in today, we most likely would have won.
om Pelissero @TomPelissero 12m
Frazier said he was told Griffen went to Rodgers' head area and that's why flag was thrown. I gotta look at it again.

One suggested it was Ed Hochuli -- who later was seen presenting the game ball to a fan -- trying to make himself the center of attention

So has Ponder.
He made some nice throws and some clutch plays and he also made some dumb throws (against Chicago, mostly).
His last significant playing time, against Chicago, he had a 46 QB rating. Ponder had a 41 Qb rating this game.

Webb is just as bad as Ponder. I guess it's just been too long since people actually saw him play and they forgot he looked completely lost as well. And it got worse the more time he got.

Maybe he's "developed" some since then? Who knows?

Jim Souhan @SouhanStrib 10m
Quick thoughts before writing: Vikings playing as well as anyone in division, other than at QB position. Benching Ponder might have won gm

SEVEN YEARS. It has been SEVEN years (save one for Brett) since we have had a starting QB on this team.

Seven years ago I was in eighth grade. In seven years, I have graduated high school, lost 50 pounds, gone through two years of college, and accomplished numerous other things. What has Minnesota done in seven years? They have consistently fielded mediocre to awful teams save for one season.

I am sick and tired of watching this inept offensive display week in and week out. Figure it out Minnesota. I am livid right now.

difference is ponder has a better team around him and cant get it done.

Do you think if RG3 was drafted by the vikings, he would be watching Ponder play? I think so.

Webb is just like RG3, just not as good of a passer. He does, however, have a strong arm and can throw downfield if he so chooses
