Maybe Cole will have back to back INTs for touchdowns!

It sucked seeing Raymond go down, he is one of my favorite new players. However, while I know Sanford has had his issues, espeically last year, did he not force a fumble on Sunday? Let's give the guy a chance to prove it on the field before calling him ineffective.dead_poet wrote:Mistral Raymond - DB - Vikings
Vikings SS Mistral Raymond has been diagnosed with a bone bruise in his ankle.
It means Raymond has avoided a fracture or high-sprain, but coach Leslie Frazier still hinted that he will miss several weeks. That means the Vikings will be forced to go with an ineffective Jamarca Sanford opposite rookie Harrison Smith at safety. If Matthew Stafford (leg) is under center Sunday, the Vikings will be severely tested at the back-end.

I'm not convinced Jamarca Sanford is much of a dropoff from Mistral Raymond. Now, if Sanford or Harrison Smith have to go out, then it's Robert Blanton or Andrew Sendejo and the Vikings are really in trouble.dead_poet wrote:Mistral Raymond - DB - Vikings

The problem is he's been given the chance to prove it. His coverage skills are...ineffectual (to put it nicely). He's not awful in run support (when taking the proper angles). Depending on how you look at it, he's not a colossal downgrade from Raymond. I'm just glad it's only a bone bruise. It looked and sounded like much worse.mansquatch wrote:It sucked seeing Raymond go down, he is one of my favorite new players. I'm feeling the same way about this. I think Mistral Raymond is learning and probably improving but his current game isn't all that much better than Jamarca Sandford's game. At least not this year. Maybe last year Sanford was a klutz, but he's a bit better this year and not a serious downgrade from Raymond.Eli wrote: I'm not convinced Jamarca Sanford is much of a dropoff from Mistral Raymond. I was thinking the same thing. If I remember correctly, he was also the ST player who stopped the opening kickoff the second half from going the distance. Since the defense held SF to a FG on that possession, that was a pretty big play too. I realize it wasn't made when Sanford was playing safety. My point was just that he had a genuinely positive impact on that game.mansquatch wrote:It sucked seeing Raymond go down, he is one of my favorite new players. Agreed! I'm really glad Raymond's ankle isn't broken. That's what I feared had happened...losperros wrote:I'm feeling the same way about this. That said, I wish Raymond a safe and speed recovery. The Vikings always need as much help in the D secondary as possible.
It's a very painful "owie".mondry wrote:What the heck is a bone bruise!
Correct - I have had one once. The doctor explained to me that it is just shy of breaking the bone. Having had both (bruises and breaks) I can tell you that it doesn't feel much different...Mothman wrote: It's a very painful "owie".
A bone bruise is trauma to the bone, usually caused by an impact. The bone isn't fractured but the outer layer of the bone is damaged.
Thankfully, I can only imagine. I've had a deep tissue bruise and that really hurt. A bone bruise supposed to be even more painful.Just Me wrote:Correct - I have had one once. Kyle Rudolph has a sore thigh and won't practice today. Jared Allen also will sit out with neck. Erin Henderson not cleared yet. #Vikings
Mistral Raymond saw specialist, who confirmed he does not need surgery. Will miss 3 to 5 weeks. #Vikings
Tom Pelissero on TwitterFrazier says #Vikings plan to use Jerome Simpson "quite a bit" this week. Was fired up to practice.
